Agreed with Two (Reply to this comment)

Momento and Ground Hog Day. While I think Momento deserves five or six viewings all in a row, I can watch Groundhog Day every year!

Excellent list! (Reply to this comment)
by fractalbuddha
I have to say these are some of the best movies ever made, and Id somewhat forgotten about many of them. Thank you for, if nothing else, digging up some dusty movie memories.
Its interesting to have put Groundhog Day as #1. I think it may have been a good choice, as of all the the movies it seemed to come most naturally. It didn't even have to try. As you said, it's just a movie about a guy who gets stuck.
Thanks for this list and your excellent reviews.

You know very little about movies, you're an uncultured fool if you think any of these movies fit into the ten greatest films EVER MADE. Dick.

Dangerous Minds?! (Reply to this comment)
by fiftyfootant
The only top ten list "Dangerous Minds" should appear on is "Top 10 Movies featuring a white woman trying to act like she isn't intimidated" or "Top 10 Movies featuring a really sweaty guy singing in the video for the movie's soundtrack song". Otherwise, it's best left in the discount bin at Blockbuster, dryhumping "Fletch Lives".

I've seen seven of these. I don't agree with your views on black and white films, as sometimes they set moods that would be ruined by color. If I were ever to do a Top 10, I think about half of them would be black and white. Still, good job, and thanks for sharing!
Sincerely, Pat

Not much of a movie guy..the only movie on this list I've seen in it's entirety is "back To The Future". I actually bought the "Frequency" DVD from a friend but am waiting for the right time to watch it (i.e. a time when I'm alone and have nothing better to do and won't be self-conscious about weeping like a beeyotch).
And if you knock out your Top 100 love songs I swear I'm posting my 200 Best Pop Songs list...
Great work, but I say that all the time--

Hey!! (Reply to this comment)
by katmar
You gave me goosebumps!! Lots of them!
Most of them occurred during the "Dangerous Minds" segment, and then I got some more with "One Hour Photo".
I love how you set this up, with the tag line, and then your favorite quote. (I love your quotes, have I told you that lately?)
You gave me pause for thought with "Dangerous Minds". I really liked that film too, and thought it was one of Pfeiffer's strongest roles ever. A little too close to "To Sir With Love," but your personal observations, and sharing what it meant to you and why made it extremely special. Anyway, the film has a spot in my heart.
And One Hour Photo, Memento and Frequency - loved all them, too. I loved the last line on the paragraph you wrote on "One Hour Photo". That gave me chills.
Perhaps this will inspire me to come up with my own list, as it's always going around in my head anyway!
Superb job, sweetie, and thanks for the lurid details of your night with "the girl". Only gives me more reason to think the world of you.
Later,
Marsha

I'm glad you were able to overcome your prejudice against black & white films to watch "12 Angry Men". Happy to see some other great films like "Breakdown", "One Hour Photo", and "Groundhog Day" (a personal favourite). I'm afraid I'm not entirely sold on "Dangerous Minds" though. I found a lot of it hard to swallow, though there were some powerful scenes.

Patrick

I was pretty shocked at some of your decisions, but I was really surprised to see that someone else liked Frequency as much as I did. The beauty of these lists is that everyone has different tastes. I *really* like four or five of these movies, but I *really* hated One Hour Photo. Cool list.

Im So Impressed (Reply to this comment)
by hiimfred
Hey! I like your choices!! It proves that they don't have to be the biggest movies to be the best.
General Praises:
Groundhog Day - What a genius premise. I could watch this over and over... as if I were stuck in the same day.
Frequency - I saw this in the theater and thought it was such a suspenseful and emotional movie. I absolutely loved it.
Back to the Future - I love all of them
12 Angry Men - Perhaps my all time favorite old movie. Such suspense created by words.
Memento - boy isn't everything in that movie such a mind blower?
Short Circuit - He's just adorable.
Nice choices!
