In fact, I have an order pending now. I usually orders CD's or books and they have always come in one piece. When I bought my PC almost two years ago now, this was the first on-line site that I made a purchase at. I would guess that I have ordered at least a dozen times and have NEVER had a problem. I read a couple other opinions here and was quite amazed to find that some people did!
EASY TO SEARCH
The other day I was tooling around in my car when on the radio came this song which I absolutely love by Sarah McLachlan. Do you ever just hear a song and get goosebumps? You love it so much that you crank up the radio completely oblivious to what's going on around you? It's one of those radio stations that doesn't always tell you who the artist is, name of album, etc. They finally rattled off all the information and I tracked it down at Barnes & Noble or on line http://www.bn.com. Name of the album if your interested is Karma by Delerium. Not even Sarah's album; she's just a contributor on this. Easy to search by artist or title. If you like, you just "add to your cart" and the total shows up on the left-hand side of the browser. Also ordered White Ladder by David Gray.
COUPONS AND/OR SPECIAL DEALS
In the beginning in 1999 when I ordered I would always get a coupon for discount off toward my next purchase. Now, if you order 2 or more items, you get free shipping. That's quite the deal eh! I had ordered 2 books 3 weeks ago and they arrived intact by UPS within a week of placing my order. They always notify you if the item is in stock and when you can expect it. Very easy to order on-line. If you don't have an account, set one up with the basic information they need or you can call their toll-free phone number. My information is still stored in "my account" there since I placed my fist order back in November 1999.
SHOP AROUND
Now, this is quite interesting, because we all know there is so much competition out there right. Right before I decided to write this review I checked another site where I do a lot of ordering-- Half.com. I love this site even more if they have what I'm looking for. Why? Because it's like really dirt-cheap. You could buy a book in perfect condition for sometimes $1 but end up paying $3 for shipping; that's one downside, but on the other hand if you like to read as much as I do and don't really want or need the book for your collection, I go to the library for free.
Getting back to before I decided to write this review-- I went to half.com and then BN.com and here at epinions to check the price of David Gray's White Ladder. It's very important that you look at everything for the best price. Interestingly I am paying $14.98 at Barnes & Noble (no shipping now), and when I checked price here at Epinions it was listed as $17.98 at BN.com and the best price at Half.com was listed at $14.50 (plus shipping). I suspect the price is inflated at BN through here because of the advertising?
In any event, I can't say enough about BN.com. I had to call their toll free number the other night when I tried to order on-line as I was having trouble, but found them to be very helpful and courteous, not the least bit rude as one opinion had said. Also, the reason I encountered a problem the other night when ordering was because when I clicked on "my account" and tried to order it didn't recognize my name and password. I couldn't figure out why as it had my credit card # listed with my home address, etc. To make a long story short, I had changed my e-mail a few months ago and thought they had that info, but the did not. I finally found the appropriate button for "my profile."
Don't be afraid to shop on-line from this place. After you log into your account, it's always a good idea to log off and close your browser. Another great thing about this place if you are contemplating a certain book or CD, usually someone else has written a review on it so that also gives you some information. And, of course on most CD's you can hear a sampling of the CD to make sure you indeed like what you hear. How many of us have bought a CD in the past for one song? Here, you can listen to most of them before deciding. Remember to always compare-shop for the best prices!
