The Bottom Line
Price rules, as always, but when their price is right, Business-supply.com is clearly the best place to buy office supplies online. I've always had good experience's ordering from them.

What can you say about a online vendor? Three factors seem the most important to me: Price, service, and site design. The world of online shopping changes quickly, however, so what can be said of a site today may not be true for long. For what it's worth though, I've dealt with business-supply.com for over a year now, and they have consistently come up on top on all three categories when I've dealt with them.
I've only bought business supplies (mailing supplies, to be precise), but their prices for those items are the best of any on the web, and shipping is free for reasonable sized orders. Their prices for other business supplies also seem good, though I've done less comparison shopping in those categories.
The website is on par with all other good online vendors, which is to say it does the job, and doesn't get in the way. It's not hard to find what you are looking for, and it is easy to place orders. But then that is true of more than half of the online vendors anyway.
Service really shines. Every order I've placed with them has been amazingly quick to be delivered, whether I've shipped it to locations in VA, or MA. Nothing has ever been damaged, and products have been accurately represented in the catalog.
