The Bottom Line Only meaningful for high-volume users. A pricey and laborious hassle for probably even a small business and certainly of very little use for individuals.

It is a lot more cumbersome to go thru the login/postage-purchasing/printing process then to simply stick a stamp on an envelope. The free postage made it tolerable, but that's over with now.
So what do normal people need a service like this this for in the long run? Really, only when we don't have the proper stamps - so that's for larger/unusual mail, packages, or international mail. Well,
- for larger-size envelopes, the required stickers (unless you have a printer that you can run a package or large envelope through :)) are quite pricey (nearly as much as the stamp).
- No international postage.
When it was $1.99, it was an OK convenience to have even for occasional users. With the minimum fee upped to $4.49
(which I got charged twice for, the second time for a three-day billing cycle after I canceled as soon as I could), it's fairly useless for anyone who does not send a dozen or more letters a day.
Actually, if I had to do a lot of mail, I think I'd still rather run my mail through a metering machine that hassle with this.
