Passover this year fell on April 2nd, for some reason holidays that fall on the beginning of the month sneak up on you, and this year my parents were not going to be home for the holidays. So what is a boy to do, my sollution was to call a near by Hillel (Jewish campus group), and ask if I could join their Seder. The nearest Hillel was still an hour and a half drive away, and I did not want to drive an hour and half after 4 glasses of wine (the required for this wonderful holiday) and a very large mean (also required for this holiday), so I found a hotel only minutes away from the campus. As a matter of fact I found lots and lots of hotels only minutes away from the campus. I decided to uses my credit card points to pay for the hotel. Since I stopped using my MBNa credit card after they switched to Bank of America I was never going to get enough points for airfare and hotel points are very generous.
Why pick Baymount Inn
I picked Baymont Inn for two reasons.
1) It had a pool
2) It was right off the highway
About the Pool, I never saw it or used it, the hotel was supposed to be 6 minutes away, it took me an hour to find it. Now if you have read my previous reviews you know I have a very nice portable GPS unit the only problem is, being portable I left it in Chicago, OPPS.
Me getting lost is not normally a reason to mark down a hotel, you might say its a reason to own a GPS and use it. This is of course true, unless the address of the hotel does match the entrance to the hotel.
This hotel is located on a major road, or so the address says, the entrance to the hotel is behind a shopping mall, and when I looked at Mapquest a second time I saw something I missed TURN RIGHT on
No I didn't have a type ohh the instruction tell me to turn RIGHT on ____________.
This unnamed street was the entrance to the shopping mall, after calling them from a pay phone I was given verbal directions and still drove around the mall twice before I found the secret entrance to this hotel.
Yet even a hard to find location would not be enough for me to request someone add this hotel to Epinions.com just so I could rant, I called Baymount Inn and did that already. My next problem was the TV.
I admit I picked this hotel because it had a pool and I did pack my swimming suit but at 10 PM I never even thought about the pool. This might be because the pool was inside and they put me in an outside facing room (like a motel not a hotel). I am guessing the suites are inside facing the pool.
So I watched TV
Correction I tried to watch TV. I turned the TV on, and at this hotel they had Pay Per View including a sticker on the TV warning people that they had adult entertainment available. To save you the hassle of explaining the adult movie bill on your corporate account they had a credit card swiping device attached to the telephone, swipe your Credit Card and pay for your porn, so thought full. Too bad the TV was unwatchable, every 10 seconds or so the TV would go blank for a ½ second or so, just about a syllable in length. My person guess is this problem was caused by interference from the Pay-per-view system they employed, but I can not say for sure.
So here I was at a hotel to avoid an hour and a half drive home, spending an hour to find it. Then I couldn't relax at the pool like I planned because I was too tired to do anything but watch TV and fall asleep and the TV was more trouble than it was worth.
Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. Next step Free Internet access
So I decided I listen to the Internet Radio to fall asleep too, I plug my computer in and find I have to call to get free access to their network. I call and get the passcode it was 9 digits and cap sensitive (all caps), and numbers. I think having the number in the room would have been nice making people call just to get on-line seems like a waste of everyones time.
The bed was king size and I have no complaints from that department.
The bathroom, surprisingly the bathroom had a full bathtub with very high walls. If someone was older they might have had trouble getting in and out, as it was the floor felt very slick. I am not a bath person and I don't know very many people that take baths in hotels, I really do prefer shower only setups.
As for price I only paid $72 with tax while that is not expensive, it really was the going rate for that area, and I am pretty sure any of my other choices would have been much much better.
Being passover I didn't check out their breakfast so I can not comment on that.
