Very Basic

Pros:Friendly staff
Cons:Rooms are dingy - passageways stink.
The Bottom Line: I would use Travelodge for budget travel and NOT for vacation use.

We stayed at the Travelodge when we decided to visit the US from the UK on vacation. We booked through Thomson as part of a room only package deal.

Our first impressions of the hotel were very good. The lobby area was welcoming with loads of sofas to sit on and it was nicely decorated. The check-in was speedy and the staff generally had a very pleasant manner to the people they served.

As soon as we moved out the lobby and into the elevator it became apparent that things were starting to go downhill pretty quickly. As we stepped out onto our floor we were a bit disappointed. The hallway stank of mildew and a bin near the elevator was very dirty which gave a bad feel to the hallway.

When we got to our room we were a bit shocked by the state of it. The wallpaper had nasty black streaks on it and some of it was peeling of the walls. As our room was adjoining, the door had created a big hole in the wall opposite and the doorframe was rusty. The room, as in the hallway, stank of must and mildew. Oh well, at least the bed was nice and the room was air-conditioned (but the A/C cover unit rattled during the night!!!) The reason why we were a bit shocked was that we stay in Travelodges in the UK and they are always clean.

The next morning we complained to our Thomson rep' and she spoke to the hotel's duty manager. The duty manager and the rep' were very helpful and moved us to another room. The next room was clean and smelt a lot better than the other one but the air-conditioning still rattled!!! The room was basic as it did not have a fridge (I would of liked one to keep the cola cold.)

The pool was very nice if a bit small. I always swam in it about early evening as it was less crowded then - some of the children could get quite rowdy!!!!

Overall the staff were helpful but I would only recommend Travelodges for budget stay.
