I've had my new computer for about a year now, and ComputerGeeks.com offered a great product at a great price. A co-worker of mine (in IT) send me an ad of theirs for a system that was a refurbished HP Pavillion a1340n. Computers I had had before were built by a family friend, and so I had never "purchased" a set system already. I wasn't picky, as long as it was better than then P3 800mHz system I had.
They even had an offer for free shipping on the system I was going to purchase. For some reason, the order for the first system I was going to purchase wasn't working, so I looked around for something else. After a short e-mail to them, they quickly replied with an offer for free shipping on my system.
The site was easy to navigate and browse. I found a system that I liked, and the price offered was about $550, refurbished, no monitor. That's fine - I liked the flat panel monitor I had, and didn't need the extras. Refurbished, though. What did that mean?
In one week, I had my system shipped. Opening the box, there was a slight mark on the case. Just a piece on the top where the plastic was a little misaligned or slightly bent (not cracked, just a tad cosmetically imperfect). We're talking max 1/16 of an inch. The thing sits under my desk, so I'm not going to be looking at it.
Right out of the box with all original HP paperwork, and easy to set up, I was overly pleased with my purchase from ComputerGeeks.com. My friend in IT has purchased a lot fro them over the years, and his recommendation turned out to be great.
The only thing that I couldn't help notice was how fast the price dropped after I had purchased it. Within a week or two, it was down 50 to 75 dollars or more from the price that I had paid for it. I guess that's how technology works, though, and so I can't blame anyone for that.
In a few years, when I'm ready to upgrade again, I'll check their site first for their deals. Who knows, I may even end up getting free shipping again. I'll be sure to wait just a little longer than last time, though, to make sure I get the best deal.
