My Harley dealer told me my battery was going to go soon, and I am planning a couple of long road trips this summer. I really didn't want to be out in BFnowhere with a dead motorcycle. Shades of Deliverance and/or Easy Rider.
I did a Google search for "Harley batteries", and found this site among many others. For starters you choose the type of battery you want (car, motorcycle, ATV, camera, truck, coin cell, ad infinitum, and it has a search engine that works with your make, model, and year vehicle. There were several batteries for my 2000 FXSTS Springer, all with free shipping. It took only a minute or so to find them.
I chose the appropriate Powermax make, and it was on my front doorstep by UPS from Tennessee to California in 4 days. My total investment of time up to that point was under 5 minutes, most of which was filling in the blanks to use my credit card as a new account there.
The battery was completely sealed and charged, so there was nothing to do but install it. The instructions reccommended putting it on a trickle charger for a day or two, which I did. For some reason this battery never got the green light on the trickler.
I e-mailed Bob Parker at ebatteriestogo. He responded the same day asking that I call him Monday. On Monday he offered to replace the battery with another one with free shipping both ways even if they wanted the defective battery back. I declined getting another Powermax not only because of the failure of the first one, but because the terminals are recessed from the edge of the battery. This makes attaching the positive and negative cables on this model Harley a real chore. When I first told Bob about that he sent me longer screws and spacers at no charge.
Bob called me on his dime several times, ultimately crediting my Visa with the full purchase price of the Powermax, and I purchased a better battery with flush terminals from him with free shipping.
I am not only impressed with the design and ease of use of their site in finding appropriate batteries for almost everything that uses batteries, I am amazed at the after sale customer service. Bob Parker spent a lot of time reading my e-mails, listening to me on the phone, and finally resolving this problem at zero expense to me, all in less than a week. It's hard to find that kind of customer service in a neighborhood store, much less at an impersonal online store.
On top of all that Bob took me at my word that the Powermax was defective and didn't even request that I return it. Even your friends might not do that. The battery works OK, but will not take a full charge, so I suspect it will have a short life. I'll take it to my local Kragen's to have them recycle it.
What more can I say about this site. They have every battery you'll ever need, the prices are fair, shipping is fast and free, the site is a piece of cake to navigate, and the customer care is beyond awesome. Ebatteriestogo.com has set up coupon code "EP1000" that Epinions readers can use during step 2 of checkout that will apply a 10% discount to the total order. I will use this site for all my battery needs, and you should too.
