I knew it! Nobody can really resist a half naked Will.
Probably not.
I think I liked Fey more than I liked the movie as a whole - I'm just not a Lindsey Lohan fan, I guess.
I think I liked Fey more than the movie too. Lohan has been ok in some things, but I wouldn't say I'm a fan of hers.

DnDn4kidz,
life is so freaking serious all the time, stupid fun is a GOOD THING!
I completely agree - I love my depressing little indie movies, but stupid comedy absolutely has a place in my life. I need it!
I LOL'd through almost this entire movie~I'll be one of the idiots buying the video when it comes out :)
I suspect we'll be in line right there with you - I would love to see some outtakes from this. And I know one teenager who will watch the decapitation practice over and over and over....;)

I think Fey did a great job with Mean Girls, she could carry a movie. I haven't watched her newest TV show - but it's getting renewed.

Michelle,
My favorite scenes were the ones regarding decapitation. I guess that means I have more in common with the adolescent?
Notice how I didn't happen to mention which companion I had more laughs in common with....;)
Okay, I loved the decapitation gag. But I loved the bickering between the Farrell and Heder (I swear, it's exactly like an advanced form of the bickering I hear all too regularly) and the scene with the coach watching the video of the fist fight even more - hilarious!

William,
I dunno, Sue. I mean, I like silly. (I love It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World after all, and even some Jerry Lewis.)
Silly is fun! Well, if you're in the mood for it. Truth is, I saw this one in the greatest two-day-double-bill ever:
One night I watched Children of Men
The next I went to see this
At least I have range.....;)
But I can reach for something artistic there.
Really, it's there if you scratch the surface, honest, just ask the French.
I'm sorry, but the only word I can reliably remember in French is "ham". Then again - I could probably get somewhere with that asking about Lewis, couldn't I?
I am soooooooo funny......

I agree. I've seen him in a few things that were ok, but nothing great. He's no where near as funny as Farrell. She is very funny too.

Or perhaps you were distracted by Will Ferrell's fabulous half naked physique?
Well..maybe I was. lol
Yeah, I just don't see Rob Schneider doing quite as well. But Tina Fey is a stitch.

That's very true. Several of the movies that the SNL alums have made have been very stupid and not funny. Farrell has managed to make some very entertaining movies.
Yeah, I just don't see Rob Schneider doing quite as well. But Tina Fey is a stitch.
It would seem so. Maybe we need a support group or therapy or something..lol

few Will Ferrell movies I actually enjoyed. I thought the funniest scene was when the trainer was running the film clip. FUNNY!
The one when he realizes they could be a pair? I loved that! Those slow motion fight moves are hysterical.

Jan,
I'm looking forward to this silly movie on DVD. I was intrigued by this observation:
Blades of Glory isnt laughing at figure skating; its laughing at stereotypes and caricatures.
But aren't all figure skaters caricatures? Heh. I should look up caricature to find out!
It's really fun if you're in the mood. And wait until you see these guys - they are every stereotype times 100 - hilarious!
Super review.
Thank you kindly!

It seems as though nearly all of the SNL alum try this method, but it works only for the very select few. Or maybe just him.

Oh I know. Some movies fail in a huge way when they try to use stupid humor. Farrell has managed to figure out how to make it work.

Chadley Chaddles McChaddles,
Dammit, Sue, I thought you understood that I am required by law to see all Will Ferrell movies before you.
I am aware of this law. Yet I discovered the whole "doing the sociological research" loophole, which allows me to go to the theater before you as long as my children happen to be on spring break at the time. It's a mighty slender window and I just made it.
I can't handle that you've seen this and I haven't (as I haven't been to a theater since December), and so I refuse to read your review.
I understand. I also have not been to the theater since December and have virtually no excuse for this whatsoever. Well, except for that I'm in Crazy Cat Lady training.
Okay, that's not true. I read it. And I liked it. But I'm still upset by the unbalancing of the universe this has caused.
Good. And I know - would you like something to help balance things out? Perhaps we have the same three movies at the top of our Netflix queues - that would do it.
I hope you can live with yourself
Yeah, not really. Thus the whole Crazy Cat Lady ambition thing. It's much easier to live with yourself when you have 20 cats. At least that's what the CCL trainer says....

Stupid is definitely not always funny. In fact most of the time it's just stupid. Somehow Farrell seems to have become the champion at stupidly funny. Either that or I have some weird chemical imbalance that makes me love him.

G,
I am still struggling to get in for numero uno.
You have time - it's only April. Not like I'll probably see any more, but still, it is only April.....;)
Once I recovered from the wet (and dry) heaves, having seen the "300" trailer about six months ago I just haven't been able to gin up the desire to go sit through some disappointing C.R.A.P.
Now any trailer that can provoke multiple types of heaves has to be worth some kind of award. I do love it when trailers are horribly bad - because you know they've put what they think is the best of the film in there. So either the film is absolutely atrocious or the filmmakers are absolutely delusional. Luckily for us, we don't have to go see the movies! Because.....
Luckily, there are still DVDs.
Bingo! I love 'em. Netflix is my friend - where else would I find all those little indie movies I love?
But still, half naked Will Ferrell is really funny on the big screen. Just writing that sentence makes me pretty sure I need counseling....;)

C,
I know I'll be in the theatre for Spidey 3. That will be at least one. Then we'll be tied. LOL
I'm really thinking that I will probably try and catch Pirates 3 on the big screen. But I will fail, and we will be tied. One of us will have to go see a foreign arthouse film to break that tie......
I nominate you!
Glad to hear. I saw him in The Benchwarmers and his voice was annoying. I really wanted to hit him with a bat to fix him.
His voice is a problem. But....he isn't as breathy or whiny in this one - he gets some good shots in at Ferrell. And there is actually talk in the film of taking a bat to him. Are you psychic?!?
You are too much. Okay, I will try and see this movie when I can.
Too much of what? Hopefully I am too much chocolate cake. Or too much of a Crazy Cat Lady (coming soon to a profile page near you....)
And yes, you should try it, you might like it. Heder does get beaten on several times - that should be enough to at least get it a rental....;)

Farrell is one of the few comic gems to come out of recent Saturday Night Live shows.
I agree. And to think his first SNL movie was "The Roxbury Boys".
We watched a recent episode of SNL and were shocked at how truly bad it was. I wonder if they'll do a full cast revamp soon?

We saw some ads and knew we must see it. Sometimes I just love me some dumb comedy - it's total escapism.
Oh me too. I like this type of movie at times, though they don't always work. Some end up being just too stupid. I didn't think that happened with this one.
I don't know what's wrong with me, but those scenes just crack me up! The running around in his underwear in Talladega Nights, showing off in his towel in this one - even the streaking in Old School. You just have to love a man who is that un-selfconscious!
Those scenes have cracked me up too. You do have a point there.
But I hope he sticks with half naked - I really don't need to see the full package....
Oh I agree with that. There would be entirely too much Farrell for anyone.
