I recently bought a Conair Hot Lather Machine HLM10 and have really grown to love it after a few uses. My first attempt to use it was very comical as I screwed on the bottom too tight. After I lightly touched the button, a steady stream of shaving cream spewed out and chaos ensued as my bathroom countertop and sink were covered in shaving cream. It was an user error.
The bottom of the Lather Machine is adjustable to accomodate both 11 oz and 14 oz cans of shaving cream. Not thinking ahead, I screwed on the bottom tightly to make sure that the shaving cream doesn't leak inside the Lather Machine. Here's an obvious tip: screw on the bottom slowly then shake the lather machine with the shaving cream can inside. If it doesn't sound like it is sliding around inside, then it's screwed on tight enough. Do not over-tighten the unit or you too will feel like an idiot cleaning a half can's worth of shaving cream out of your sink and countertop.
Depending on the shaving cream and how tightly the can is held inside the Lather Machine, you'll get different amount of hot lather out each time you press the button. It just takes some practice. Once you get the hang of it, it is pure shaving heaven. Treat yourself to one of these. You can find them for $19.99 in most stores.
