No I Will Not Make Out With You! (Twix109's Ask A Teenager Anything W/O)
Aug 26 '03
The Bottom Line Wow. I think you may now know more about me then my own parents. That's kind of sad, actually.
Well, when I first got an e-mail from Epinions very own Twix109, inviting me to her elaborately planned Ask A Teenager Anything write-off, I checked my calendar, saw that I had nothing better to do, and agreed to join in on the write-off goodness. Little did I know when I first e-mailed my response, that I was in well over my head. It wasnt until several days passed and Twix e-mailed us the questions that I shat myself and realized I was screwed. Especially since I lack the discipline to do anything in advance (and with only seven days of freedom left before the return of school, I wasnt particularly in the mood to exert myself). But duty calls, and so I have arrived to answer the following questions, as asked
Because who could let down Twix and not feel bad about it afterwards? OK, besides me. The whole deal with this write-off is, in case youre a little slow, is to ask current teenagers questions and have them answered. Older Epinions members ask questions and the teenagers (myself, our host and a few others whom I shall list at essays close) answer them, as truthfully, sarcastically, or as nonsensically as possible. Personally, Im going for a combination of all three. And yes, Im aware Im late. It took me a lot longer to answer this boatload of questions then I originally thought (and dont think the e-mail Danielle sent to me reminding me to wrap it up and get it posted didnt make me feel bad enough already).
These questions are from Chromekiller.
1. A candy store sells boxes of candy containing caramels and creams. Each box sells for $12.50 and holds 30 pieces of candy (all pieces are the same size). If the caramels cost $0.25 to produce and the creams cost $0.45 to produce, how many of each should be in a box to make a profit of $3?
You know, I actually do know how to do this one. Its one of those questions where you have to create two equations and use one to solve the other, where X and Y intercept, and so on. That said, Im not wasting my last week of freedom actually going through and answering this question, so Im sticking to my guns and insisting that the answer is 7.
2. Sam can rake the leaves in his front yard in 60 minutes. John can rake the leaves in 40 minutes. If John helps Sam, how long does it take them to rake the leaves working together?
Uhhh
7?
3. Drew and Alex are traveling in two separate cars from Drew's house in Georgia to Alex's house in Tennessee. Drew drives 10 mph faster than Alex and arrives at Alex's house in 5 hours. Alex arrives in 6 hours. How fast was Alex driving? How far did they travel?
Bang! Zoom! Right to the moon!
4. Tim, Julie, and Karen shared a 12-slice pizza. Julie ate 2/3 of the number of slices that Tim ate and Karen ate 1/3 the number of slices that Tim ate. How many slices did Tim eat?
It may be 6. Then again, it may not be. Lets not get wrapped up in semantics. Its whatever you want it to be.
5. How much pure HCl (hydrochloric acid) should be added to 10 oz. of a 40% HCl solution to obtain a 50% solution?
You know, Im almost positive that the entire purpose of this series of questions was simply to establish how ignorant and lazy todays teenagers are. Either that or it was a gag. In any event, it did pretty much prove the prior, at least with me. My gift to you today is the five preceding problems, for you to solve and enjoy. And just for kicks, the answer is seven.

1. Do you feel comfortable talking to your parents about personal issues such as Sex? If not do you think that if your parents handled things in a different way you would confide in them more often, and if so how could they open the lines of communication better with you?
I suppose, from what Ive read thus far, that Im in the minority in this category (at least of the Epinions members who happen to be teenagers and participated in the write-off). Maybe its because Im the first guy to answer this question (Ive only read our hostesses entry thus and two other ladies thus far), but my parents creep the hell out of me. Simple dinner conversation is difficult enough. Getting into sex, well, thats not wise - especially considering these are the same parents who lost it and threatened to kick me out of the house because I wanted to grow my hair a little longer. Im not sure if theres anything they really could to help that whole deal. Maybe talk to me like a real human being rather than going between babying me and treating me like a criminal - neither of which I am.
2.Do you like the new sexy fashions of today, especially the ones geared towards teenagers, or do you wish that styles would become more conservative?
From a guys standpoint, hell yes. Im perfectly alright with all the eye candy in the world. That said, theres also something to be said for classiness. Some girls are attractive simply because they carry themselves well, regardless of what they wear. As far as guys fashions go, about as sexy as they get is low-rider jeans, so Ive got no comment on that one.
3.Do you think everyone over the age of 30 is a dork?
Not necessarily, no. Im perfectly alright with a lot of the older people that I know, but there are a few adults who make me shake my head out of a combination of confusion and frustration - my parents being one, and a lot of my friends parents also on that list. That said, as a dork myself, Im not really allowed to complain, and there are a few generally cool older people Ive known. My uncle, despite still living at home at age forty, is a really cool guy to hang around with a pretty vast knowledge of music and random trivia, and I was always really proud of my grandmother.
4. Do you feel impacted at all by todays financial problems, such as the high rate of un-employment?
Personally, not really. Ive seen its effects, but luckily they havent hit home as of yet and Im really hoping they wont (knock on wood). Paying for my post-secondary education will be tough, but that can be chalked up more to my parents trying to send three kids to university at once rather than it is the result of unemployment and financial problems.
5. Do you think public service announcement geared towards teens to help prevent things such as: Teen pregnancy, Drug use, drunk driving, etc. have any impact on teenagers? If so how much? If not what do you think would be a more affective means of educating and preventing?
If theres one thing that gets me absolutely peeved, its those public service announcements that attempt to prevent drug use. The drunk driving ones are marginally effective, but just thinking about all those anti-drug commercials I watched as a kid makes me actually want to go out and do drugs. For one thing, they air these Partnership For A Drug Free America commercials at the worst time. I remember seeing them when I was six years old while watching Fox Kids and not even realizing what drugs were. But I still felt that gnawing guilt as if I was doing something wrong, even though I couldnt have been. This latest barrage of anti-drug ads is just pointless, attacking a problem that really doesnt exist in vast numbers. And the more you criticize and try to deter drug use, the more kids are going to want to try the stuff. And dont get me started on the backwards logic these ads always seem to use. For example, I think weve all seen the commercial where the two kids are in a study taking hits from a bong, and one pulls a gun out of a drawer and ends up shooting his friend because theyre both high. I mean, thats a great commercial
for gun control! And the one that tries to link marijuana with terrorists? Half-truths and outright lies that do nothing but attempt to strike fear and guilt into gullible people. And thats all I can say about that subject without going off on a three-page tangent (and Im aware at how poorly written that paragraph was, but thats what blind frustration does to me).
These questions are from MiMi369.
1. Why do teens yes their caregivers to death and then do what ever they want to do anyway?
The short answer, I think, is because Im not sure a lot of parents would really understand what kinds of things kids are actually doing, and parents worry far too much about things that they can really have no control over anyways. The long answer, I guess, is that not all teens do this and a lot of us simply get tired of receiving order after order without ever getting our own input on anything.
2. Why do young teen drivers feel that they are exempt from obeying the rules of the road. Specifically, maintaining some thing close to the speed limit?. Actually stopping at stop signs and red lights. And wearing seatbelts while driving, not just when they see a police officer.
You know what, this question seriously p*sses me off. I could answer this question, but maybe you should stop making broad generalizations about what teenagers are and what we do. If you had associated any other group of people with your question (Asians, blacks, etc.,), you would have come off sounding totally ignorant and bigoted. So how come its alright to make a generalization like this when it comes to teenagers? This is the kind of crap that we have to deal with that a lot of people seem to overlook. In all seriousness, there are good teenaged drivers and there are bad teenaged drivers, just like there are good and bad adult drivers. I follow the rules of the road, and so do my friends. Its only a select group of morons who put themselves above others who do these stupid things, and all of us get labelled as a result (and along with that label comes ridiculous insurance prices).
3. A friend of mine lost three young neighbourhood friends due to drag racing after a night of drinking. Three died while the drunk driver survived. Why is it that these horrible life-changing stories don't seem to phase the teen underage drinker who drives?
For some people, they do. For others, I think the problem lies in the fact that these stories dont hit home because people didnt know who these people who died were. Ive always insisted that if you really want to scare someone straight, you have to show them the most depraved, sickest, most twisted images on earth, or do something to someone close to them for them to realize the full impact. But again, I think a lot of your question falls back on broad and largely inaccurate generalizations.
4. Are teens concerned with the current situation of our American troops still fighting in Iraq?
Speaking personally, I know that I am. But from the perspective of most of the teenagers I am at least partially acquainted with, Ive noticed a startling presence of apathy and ignorance that does trouble me a bit. I was amazed at the number of times I overheard people saying things a long the lines of alright, lets go kill a few towelheads. People just accept what theyve been force-fed and dont ever dare to challenge anything that didnt come directly from CNN, which is even more troubling. It really does make me wonder whether weve actually even made any progress at all as a species in our time on earth.
5. What do most teens feel is appropriate punishment for disrespect of household rules and regulation? Specifically, is taking away the computer and INTERNET access going overboard?
Not really, although I could really care less. Im the type of person who cant completely entertain myself in any and all situations. Ive got some definite loner tendencies, and there are so many other things I can do that it doesnt really bother me a lot. Plus, my parents prefer empty threats over legitimate punishment, anyway.

1. Explain your viewpoints on marriage, should there be an age requirement to get married?
I dont think there should be an age requirement - but there should be an intense screening process to weed out the stupid and the ignorant. In all seriousness, though, marriage is marriage and its not exactly something Ive given deep thought to. Although Ill say one thing, the institute of marriage has begun to lost some of the romanticism and sense of legitimacy that it once had.
2. Why are younger female teenagers (13 to 16) attempting to look much older and/or dress "sexier" when the only ones who notice are much older men?
Not just older men notice. Its an attention-grabbing type thing, but as a guy, Im not exactly well versed on the ins and outs of this particular phenomenon.
3. What is currently the "high" of choice and why?
Marijuana and alcohol, mostly because theyre so easy to get access to, despite the best efforts of the government (its pretty bad when theyre getting outwitted by sixteen year old drug dealers). Of course, I dont touch drugs, although theres nothing wrong with an orange soda every once in awhile.
4. Based on your age, your parents may have been teenagers in the 70's. Describe your impressions of the 1970's what do you think of the dress, the music, the people, the cars, etc.
As far as music goes, the seventies are pretty much my favourite decade, simply because of all the great classic rock albums that it spawned. On the flipside, it was also the age of disco, but I can overlook that. Clothes, cars, people, well, I could really care less, to be completely honest. Its all about the rock and roll.
5. What is the current career of choice and why?
I see a lot of people preparing to go into one of two fields, either computer science or engineering (not so much the first one anymore). There are also a fair number of people who want to teach, but Im also amazed at the number of people who still havent even come up with a general idea. As for me, its journalism and English all the way.
6. What makes the President of the US great, and why?
Are we talking just the position of president, or specifically the current president? The position of president itself is perhaps the most powerful in the world (which is exactly why Im terrified that its being held by George W. Bush). If were talking about Bush, Im not sure I can say anything great about him, other than that he hasnt managed to blow up the whole country (yet, anyway).
7. As a child, what was the first advertising that you remember?
I cant really think back that far. Its all a jumble, but I have to assume that it was a McDonalds commercial, if only because I have a few really old McDonalds commercials still in my head from God-knows-when.
8. What lesson that you have learned, will you apply to bringing up your own children and why?
Ive learned that kids always know more than they let on and that parents cant be naïve about what their kid says and does. Because as innocent as your kid acts around you, I can almost guarantee that the moment hes out of earshot hes fighting and cussing like a sailor.
9. How many children do you believe your generation will have on average?
Am I really supposed to care? Two-and-a-half. Whatever, it really makes no difference to me.
10. How long will your generation remained married to your first spouse?
Thirty-two and a half days. Again, I cant really say that I care, because as fellow Epinioner voxpoptart pointed out anyway, if a marriage doesnt end in divorce, it just ends in death anyway. Man, Im a pessimist.
These questions are from DunkJam.
1. How do teenagers really perceive the elderly generation?
Old people, while slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose! I like most older people. Theres the occasional total nutcase, but than that can be said about any age demographic. Most old people are wise and have intelligent things to say, although I have to admit that Im not sure if Im alone in this belief.
2. Do you think it is a little easier or harder to get a part-time job as a teenager?
I think that its much harder to get a part-time job as a teenager. Ive been searching for one for two years, and I havent even gotten a job interview yet, even though Ive gotten all kinds of academic awards to brag about. Ive noticed that a lot of times its the dumber kids who get hired because theyre too dumb to bother defying orders based on principle. Theyre easier to control. Plus, teenagers dont have nearly as many available hours to work, and its a tight job market regardless, so it is a pain.
3. How do you feel about the fact that social security benefits may not be available for your generation?
Im largely indifferent, to be truthful. I know I should be angry and outraged, but Im not - and I cant exactly explain why. I blame it on a combination of apathy and laziness.
4. Would you like to be a big fish in a little lake or a small fish in a large ocean?
I think that Id rather be a small fish in a large ocean, because Im the kind of person who just loves the anonymity of simply being just another face in the crowd. Im not sure I could handle being a big name, because I like my privacy and I like being able to aim low in my goals and achievements. Aim low. Aim so low that even if you succeed, no one will ever notice.
5. Would you like to own your own business or work for someone else when you venture out in the work place?
Honestly, I havent really decided. I want to be a music journalist, though, which I suppose entails working for someone else, even if I was freelance.

1. What is your impression of the DARE program? Have the programs that school has offered taught you anything you did not know about sex?
We never got DARE. In Windsor, we got the Grade 6 and Grade 9 VIP program (thats Values, Influences and Peers for those keeping score) - where they basically told as that crimes, drugs and alcohol were all bad things that we should never do. Im familiar with DARE, but not really enough to evaluate its effectiveness. As for sex education, we were supposed to receive it in grade nine physical education, but our teacher decided wed finish the year out playing baseball because it was so nice, rather than staying inside and learning about penises and vaginas. In reality, for anyone with half a brain, all the stuff they teach should be pretty much common sense.
2. What activity do you most enjoy doing with your parents?
Psychological warfare.
3. What is the best/worst vacation that you have gone on with your parents?
We didnt ever go on vacation much. Never more than about four hours away, at least. So I dont think I can really qualify any of them as a best vacation, really. In fact, they were all pretty average and I only came to realize that I really miss my own bed when I cant sleep in it.
4. What scares you the most?
Human ignorance. And carnies.
5. If your parents had been away during the recent blackout, what would
you have done?
Sit out on the back deck and talk over a few beers with some close friends. Wait, thats actually what I did. Never mind.
6. Which of your parents hobbies or interests do you most enjoy participating in?
Parents dont have hobbies, silly! My dad golfs, and I maintain a sort of mutual dislike for the sport (Ill play it once in awhile out of pity). Thats all I can really think of off the top of my head.
7. What is the best meal that your mother cooks?
My mom makes lots of good Mexican foods, and she makes this thing called a Taco ring thats really good. Its a ring of Pillsbury crescent rolls stuffed with seasoned hamburger meat and topped with salsa and lettuce and all kinds of vegetable toppings. It sounds really disgusting, but its actually very good. She also makes good beef bak chuoy (I dont have a clue as to how you spell it).
8. What is the best meal that your father cooks?
My dad doesnt cook (aside from hot dogs and hamburgers, at least)
9. How much money do you believe that your parents spend on you per year?
Probably a fair amount. Im too lazy to actually try and work out any figures, but Im sure it is a pretty significant amount. Not as much as my brother or sister, though, and I can take solace in that.
10. At what age do you expect to not be financially dependent on your parents?
The sooner the better. Even though Im aware Ive got it pretty good, I cant stand the way they hold all sorts of crap over my head. Maybe twenty-four or twenty five? Forty-three at the very latest.
These questions are from Kamel622.
1. How do you feel about Church/Religion?
Im a little torn on this one. On the one hand, I have no problem whatsoever with spiritualism. But theres a difference between spirituality and religion, and organized religion has found a way to really screw up what made spirituality good for people. Religions that profess love but exclude and hate certain groups is not only hypocritical, its stupid. And am I really supposed to believe that with all the religions there are, there is only one right path to follow? Personally, as a borderline agnostic, Im working under the impression that if there is a God and a heaven, you get there not by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour but by being a generally good human being. Theres just too much corruption in the church, and you have to admit that a lot of the lessons taught in the Bible are just no longer relevant in todays world. And a lot of the ideas touted by the church and organized religion are based on flawed ideas anyway. Theres a misconception that the King James version of the Bible is the most accurate, when in fact thats far from the truth. In fact, it may very well be the least accurate English translation. If youre seriously interested in religion and truly concerned with finding Jesus, I suggest you learn Latin and Aramaic. Then come talk to me.
2. Do you plan to get married?
I dont really think that far into the future, to be honest with you. I guess I do on some level, but on another level, Im perfectly content living in my parents basement for the rest of my life.
3. Do you want children someday? If so how many?
I hate kids. I truly do. I see them running around and I just want to slap them (Ive mentioned this a few times before). I honestly dont think that I would make a very good role model/father figure at all.
4. What is the hardest part about school?
You might be expecting me to say all of the workload, but that really isnt a problem in my eyes. The real issue is the fact that school is so incredibly boring and they pile all sorts of busywork on us. Honestly, I think that the busywork we get actually outnumbers the legitimate assignments, and that frustrates me. I dont even do half of the stuff Im assigned for homework, and I still ended up with a 96.4% average, which just goes to show how much padding there is in the curriculum.
5. Even though parents can drive you nuts, how do you REALLY feel about them?
Theyre a mildly amusing distraction from the rest of my life. Theyre also extremely frustrating, although I do try to keep some perspective on how difficult theyre job must be (even if I do agree with how they handle just about every single situation).
6. What is one thing that you feel is missing in your life?
I need a woman. Seriously. Self-manipulation is only fun for so long.
These questions are from Orien4794.
1. Do you see yourself as a part of your generation, or an exception to it? Why?
Id say that Im largely an exception to my generation, in that I actually take some level of pride in being a semi-intelligent, coherent human being with an appreciation for culture. I dont go to a lot of parties, I think a lot of the current styles are just stupid (Im really wishing the whole cheese grater hat thing would die right now, its already gotten so old), and Ive got a relatively small circle of friend. I like a lot of older music, too, and I dont do drugs (even though I do drink once in awhile, its very little compared to what Ive seen other kids my age knock back).
2. Every generation fears for the integrity of the generation to come, how would you argue your predecessors?
Quite honestly, I think Im as scared for my generation as a lot of older people were. Im at ground level and I see the bar gradually lowering and more and more kids slipping through the cracks and not even caring about what happens to themselves. Then again, I guess thats what people thought of the generations to come before, so Im holding out hope that maybe it will work out.
3. Do you feel hindered or helped by your society in terms of achieving your goals?
I see a lot of people looking down on the things that I want to do with my life, and what others want to do with theirs. Whenever I tell people I want to write, they usually give me a disgusted look and tell me that Im wasting my intelligence on writing. Even my biology teacher told me that last year, which really angered me. In general, society seems to frown upon teenagers doing just about anything, so I guess thats definitely a vote for hindered.
4. If there was one thing you could tell the current president face to face, what would it be?
Im not sure Id even be able to get the words out of my mouth. I think I might make a crack about his less-than-impressive literary skills. Or Id ask him, Who the hell are you to call me a sinner? Since when is it your job to pass moral judgement on everyone around you?
5. The news likes to only report on violence and vagrancy especially when it comes to young people. Do you find yourself extraordinarily affected by violence among your peers?
Not particularly, no. I hear a lot about drunken fights every few weeks, and theres a small contingent of kids starting fights who seem to think that theyre urban thugs when in reality theyre just wealthy suburban white kids. Other than that, I cant really say that Ive been at all effected by teenage violence. Then again, I dont get out much.
6. How will you change your part of the world?
I wont. Hey, at least I'm realistic.
These questions are from MaggsMomm.
1. What's sucks most about being a teen today?
Theres a lot of pressure being exerted on teenagers, even more I think than there was ten or twenty years ago. Especially in Ontario, with the elimination of grade 13, the entire school curriculum is being twisted around, mangled and chopped up to try and fit it into one less year (yet theres somehow still plenty of room for all the aforementioned busywork). In grade nine, I was doing the same math problems that my sister was in grade 12. Education-wise, I think a lot is expected of us, and with the shape of the education system, Im not sure we can really deliver.
2. What's the coolest thing about being a teen today?
The Internet affords lots of access to free pornography - especially to those with computer illiterate families - making it much simpler than actually trying to acquire a magazine or video. Yes, that was the first thing that popped into my head, and yes Im only partially serious.
3. What popular "slang" do you use most often? (give definitions)
I dont use a lot of slang, really. Sometimes Ill say yo (basically a greeting) and I kid around a lot by saying a lot of stupid things that are actually surprisingly common (aiight, for shizzle my nizzle), but I talk fairly normal (at least I think I do).
4. What is a typical party like where you live?
I dont go to a lot of parties, but there are generally two types. The quiet ones where everyone just kind of sits around and hangs out, and the ones where theres plenty of access to alcohol and various illicit substances. As you can imagine, the latter are much more lively, usually filled with raving morons, loud rap music, nudity, and people falling down stairs, vomiting and so on.
5. How big of an influence does media have in your life?
I like to be an informed person, but aside from music, I really dont pay to much attention to the media, other than simply as an outlet for news (and Im usually well aware that theyre slanting whatever stories they present anyway). Music, though, is pretty much my whole life, so I guess at least that facet of media does have a significant impact on me.
6. If you could change anything about your life what would it be?
I wish I wasnt so awkward of a person. Im naturally shy and pretty reserved until I know people well, so its pretty hard for me to meet people and make new friends. Theres always alcohol for that problem, though.
7. Can you discuss your feelings and thoughts openly with your parents/peers?
Not without getting laughed out of the room, no. I wouldnt go near a lot of subjects with a ten-foot pole while in conversation with more parents, and my friends are only somewhat better.
8. What do you dislike about yourself most?
Like I said before, Im too shy and reserved. And Im not exactly a looker, either.
9. How do you perceive the world today?
A big craphole full of war, famine, and all kinds of things that we should have already abolished a long time ago. I sometimes wish people were more concerned about the big picture, but then I realize that its hard for them to be concerned with it when Im the king of apathy myself.
10. If you had kids your age what would be your best piece of advice for surviving in today's society with all its pressures?
Dont do anything stupid, you little insolent bastard!
These questions are from wifeofvolsfan.
1. What would be some cool CD's to play at an outside party for a teen? I'm not sure what's "in".
It really depends on the kind of teenagers at said party. There are many battle lines drawn simply over musical taste. There are the white boy thugs who listen to nothing but 50 Cent, the faux-punk rockers who listen to nothing but Good Charlotte and Newfound Glory, and the pop-Goths who wander around in black and listen to Slipknot. And we cant forget the stoners
and then there are the people who dont really fit in any of these categories. The only thing I dont think anyone could go wrong with is Bob Marley, because its my experience that everyone loves something by Bob Marley. Same with Tom Petty, although Ive never figured out exactly why that is.
2. If you parents knew you were having sex, confronted you and offered to get you birth control why would you lie and say you weren't having sex (even if you knew you were)? What would be the advantage of not telling the truth?
The only thing I can really think of (and as a lonely guy, Im not exactly well-versed in this whole deal) is that the kids want to escape getting yelled at. Because I know (if I was a girl) if my parents ever asked me that question, it would be a trap so that they could find an excuse to yell at me and tell me whats wrong with me.
3. What would be the coolest gift your parents could give you?
Some space. Im so sick of feeling like Im under the rule of a totalitarian dictator. Its a sad day when I cant even decide for myself how long I want my hair to be (and as such, there have been many sad days).
4. If your parents are divorced why would any teen try to make the other parent look bad to the one they are with? Wouldn't it be easier for the teen for everyone to just get along?
My parents arent divorced and I dont know too many people whose parents are, but I chalk this up to either a kid wanting to get material possessions from both parents or the parents themselves manipulating their kids to fulfill their own agendas (and youd be surprised, because everyone has an agenda).
5. Do you think it's wrong for parents to ask teens to baby-sit younger siblings without being paid?
If its a one-time thing or just every once in awhile, I think its fair to not pay them, but if its a regular or scheduled thing, then the teen should get some form of compensation. Assuming theyre doing a half-decent job, at least.
6. What chores do you think teens should be expected to do?
The basic stuff: washing dishes, cleaning rooms, things like that. I dont think it should be a teens responsibility to clean an entire household, because it should be the parents job to at least set some sort of example for the teen to work with. And its also unfair to expect perfection when they do these chores - I cant even remember the number of times my mom has screamed at me for twenty minutes for doing nothing more than missing a speck of dust on a television screen or a little speck of dirt on the bathroom floor. But the teen should also receive some money for doing chores, too. Nothing too big, but enough to at least give them some incentive.
7. Do you think your parents should do your laundry for you?
My mom does my laundry, and Im thankful for it because Id be completely and totally lost without her. I believe that in most cases, it should be the parents who do the laundry - or at the very least, teach their kid how exactly to do it.
8. What is a fair curfew for school nights? weekends?
When I go out on school nights - if I go out at all - Im usually home by 10:00, 10:30 at the very latest, if not due to fear of punishment than due to my desire to get as much sleep as possible. On the weekends, my curfew is technically 11:30, but as long as my parents know who Im with and have a reasonable idea as to where I am, I can come home as late as 12:30 or even 1:00 and they wont really care too much. I kind of wish they would formally extend it a bit because I really hate coming home and wondering whether or not Im going to get in trouble.
9. If you are caught lying to your parents how long do you think it should be before they trust you again?
My parents dont trust me, so this is pretty much an exercise in futility, anyway.
10. What should your parents do if you bring home bad grades?
My parents are absolutely terrible with this one. I come home with the highest average in my grade and I still get yelled at for having an 88% in math class. Something about that strikes me as stupid, even more stupid since I found out that my dad got 46% in his OAC. However, Im not sure Im really qualified to make this judgement. I suppose you could ground the kid until his marks improve - but the problem with that lies in the number of times report cards are released (as in, they may be grounded for a long time).
These questions are from Kparsons13.
1. When you know that you can get pregnant why would you risk not using protection with so many STDs and AIDS and all of that out there?
Dont ask me, Im as well informed as you are in this one. To me it seems like an issue of common sense (and thats something many of my peers definitely lack), but the only other thing I could even possibly chalk it up to is the unavailability of birth control products - even though they are easy to find - but like I said, some people just dont have common sense.
2. Do you believe in life after death?
Im constantly flip-flopping back and forth on this one, because I just cant really decide. On my better days, Id like to think that maybe theres something for us after we all die. But then that gets me thinking about how Im going straight to hell for all the bad crap Ive done. Other, more logical days, I take on a bit of an Ill believe it when I see it attitude.
3. Why are the girls these days dressing so open and out there or in my day would have been known as "slutty?"
I dont know. Not a clue. I mean, you dont see guys going around in tube tops and short skirts (OK, bad example). To the best of my knowledge (of which I have little, especially when it comes to the fairer sex), I suppose its just an issue of attention and how much you can get.
.4. Do you plan on joining the military after high school?
Ah-hahahahahahahah! I have the discipline and mental toughness of a sack of potatoes.
5. Do your parents actually talk to you openly about drugs and sex and do you talk to them back?
No. And no. Theyve never really brought it up, not that theyd ever have to because I dont touch drugs and Im not exactly in line for massive orgies any time soon. And Id never ask, either. Thats just asking for trouble.
These questions are from PILARZMOM.
1. Are more teenagers chosing oral sex over intercourse?
Ummm
. Sure. Sounds like fun.
2. Do teenagers really using condoms during intercourse?
They do if they arent complete morons.
3. Do you use drugs on regular basis or just at parties?
I dont touch drugs at all, but most of the people I know are the kind who really only do drugs at parties. Only the hardcore losers are doing them regularly.
4. What drugs do you use?
Lets see, Reactine, Dristan, and Tylenol. I dont touch drugs. If somebody else wants to do them, more power to them, but Im not touching the stuff.
5. When you go to parties and drink do you have a designated driver or alternate means of transportation?
I walk. Or stagger, I suppose. I dont go to parties often, but whenever we drink, its nearly always at a place thats within walking distance of my house, so Im alright in that respect.
6. What do you think of girls with less than perfect bodies letting it all hang out (that is wear low-cut jeans with their bellies hanging out)?
Its disgusting. Plain and simple. You can be as proud of your body as you want to, just dont force the rest of us to see your rolls, alright?
7. Why do guys like to wear low baggy jeans with their boxers showing?
Its comfortable, and I suppose its just the style. I wear my pants fairly low, but theres a point where they do hang too far. When you can see the entire pair of boxers, you need a belt. And you can take that advice to heart.
8. What ugly clothes do you think older women wear?
Nothing comes to mind. But then I dont spend a lot of time staring at older women, do I?
9. What ugly clothes do you think older men wear?
I hate old men who wear their black socks pulled all the way up to their knees, with no shirt on. Ive got at least a dozen older neighbours who mow the lawn in that very attire, and its very
wrong.
10. And now the burning question, who is cooler, Britney or Christina (or neither)?
Zeppelin ruuuullllllleeeesssss!
