My personal top 10 list of Great Anime movies!

The Bottom Line Either you have just joined anime fandom, or are a collector, get your hands on "Princess Mononoke", it's a beautiful, flawless movie, which pretty much defines the genre!
Greetings new and old Anime fans!
This is my first review here on the site, so I should probably tell you how I do my anime reviews... My goal is to write short, easy and interesting key-words that makes you want to check out the movie title and find out what the movie is really all about! :-) I also, for each movie title, write a very short "advertisement" or "intro"-like summary of the movie, from my own mind... The rating points I use are "total" points, for animation, sound, music, characters, storyline etc. So, if you think one of the titles below sound interesting, just search for that title at an online movie store (like www.dvdboxoffice.com) and read on! I also haven't seen so many anime movies yet, so this is more an top 8 list than a top 10 list! However, I am turning into a big anime fan these days, after seeing "Princess Mononoke" at a buddies house... That movie was like a total turningpoint to me! I have always thought that the japanese anime movies have been interesting, and I saw "Akira" in 1993 or something like that... It was very impressive! But, with things going on in my life, I had no time to start a "new interest".. Now, my life is good! I have a great new girlfriend, which, surprise surprise, LOVES anime movies! And besides, she likes everything else I am into, so... Now I can concentrate on the things I have always had an eye on! Like anime movies! :-) I have bought 8 anime dvd's lately, and this is my presentation of them! :-)
1.) "Princess Mononoke"
Keywords: "FLAWLESS, BEAUTIFUL AND VERY EXCITING FOREST ANIME!!!"
Story: "A young boy tries to save the beautiful forest from the wrath and evil of the violent demons, and also tries to lay down peace between the peaceful animals and the humans, which both want the forest for themselves..."
Review: Now this is a classic! I know this is a fairly new movie (1997) but it is still a classic! Beautiful, no wait, GORGEOUS animation, very charming and interesting characters, an amazing storyline that sucks you right in from the beginning of the movie, a highly colorful and spectacular anime world - these are just a few of the things that makes "Princess Mononoke" your NUMBER *1* choice to go for when selecting your next anime movie, even your FIRST anime movie! I know, I know.. Most people are raving about this movie, but really, all the hype is true! It is an AMAZING trip into the world of anime! I won't give away too much about this beautiful movie, you've got to experience the details yourself while watching it! Go get it NOW! You won't be sorry you did...

2.) "Kiki's Delivery Service"

Story: "A very young girl leaves her home to find a place to train her witchcraft. On her way she meets several kind and helpful people that makes help her fulfill her dream, to become a true witch..."
Review: Now this is a cute movie! I highly recommend this one for those of you who are looking for a non-violent, but still exciting adventure! It's an oldie (1989) but a goodie! The reason for why this movie scored so high with me is that it's so innocent, yet enjoyable! The joyful storyline, pretty animation, a warm and colorful anime world, and amazingly cute characters makes this one of your top choices for great anime movies today!

3.) "Akira"
Keywords: "FUTURISTIC AND ADVANCED ANIME THAT SUCKS YOU RIGHT IN FROM THE BEGINNING!"
Story: "This is the story about some kids, in the future, riding their high-tech bikes, trying to stay away from the evil claws of the government.. Then project Akira, the "alien" enters their lives, and everything changes..."
Review: This is a true classic! It's not too old (1988) but still, old means good! And old movies are often more advanced in storyline and plot! I bow in the dust for the creators of this one... This classic anime movie features great animation, with LOADS of EXCITING high-tech action, and a dark and bitter athmosphere! This all makes "Akira" one of your very TOP choices for anime movies! This still is the greatest "old classic" anime movie of all-time!

4.) "Ghost In The Shell"
Keywords: "HIGHLY ADVANCED, HIGH-TECH FUTURE ACTION FOR ADULTS!"
Story: "In the future, the world is running huge and powerful network. Hackers are a serious problem, and a special team of cyborgs are created to prevent hackers to damage anything and everything..."
Review: Prepare yourself for one of the most exciting stories of all-time... This one will leave you begging for more, as the action and intensity force you to never leave your chair as you witness, and enjoy the storyline, the characters and the advanced animation and computer animation of perhaps THE most talked-about future anime movies of all time... Outstanding! If you like robots, cyborgs and other non-human beings, you'll love this one! If you DON'T have a cyborg-fetish, chances are that you'll probably get one after "Ghost In The Shell"... Go get yourself this movie NOW! But beware, the characters and storyline sucks you right up from the beginning, and makes you wonder if things are what they seem to be in real life as well...

5.) "Castle In The Sky"

Story: "A young girl is trapped in a strange world of spirits, trying to rescue herself, and her parents, who are transformed into frogs..."
Review: What a story this is! This movie features some beautiful animation, a very strange and sometimes bizarre anime world, and lots of CUTE and weird characters... Many people talk about this movie, not only because it is directed by the famous Hayao Miyazaki, but because it is such a different type of adventure! Once again, I won't give away too much... But it has got a lot of spirits and strange creatures in it! I would say this is a movie for teens, because the story has got kind of a complicated feel to it! Just check it out! It's great anime, and great entertainment!

7.) "Perfect Blue"

Review: This is truly an exciting and violent anime movie! Not for kids, that's for sure! Having that said, this is an anime you can't miss! The animation is very life-like, and you will be swept away by the intensity of the story in this movie, for sure! I never thought anime could be THIS exciting! If you want to experience something "real" within the anime genre, check out this one.. It's a sure hit!
