I see I'll have to come up with a second part to this. I was only keeping it to 10. :-)

Requiem doesn't mean to be loved, but it certainly gets its point across, doesn't it? Good to see you actually watch classics, hehe.

eclectic list. I'm with George---nothing good came down the pike between 1951 and 1999?

Thanks, Mimi. Topper was where Cary Grant solidified his movie persona, I believe. Fun stuff.

Really? It sounded so much like Peter and the Wolf. Thanks for pointing this out!

Great comedy, of course! Light fare, without even a ghost, so it doesn't qualify. :-)

Black and white does seem creepier to me, too. I think classics had more mood, less special effects.

Glad you like the concept of it. I'm sure people expected more scifi or horror classics, hehe. That's another list!

Peter Lorre was whistling "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" by Grieg. Still, you made some fine choices for your list. Thanks for sharing!

the DVD copies of the Topper series, but remember seeing them when they came out. I loved them then. I was waiting for you to mention "It Happened One Night" with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. Maybe it was because I was at the right age when it came out, but I think I liked it almost as well when I saw it on DVD.

Good choices, Jan.

of oldies on that list. I will have to see if I can get my hands on some of those. For some reason the older films, seem freakier and scarier to me than modern day films. A very nice and interesting list of movies.

It's good to hear your voice direct for a change, without the aid of a therapist, even a nice one. Modern Times turns out to be the only movie on this list that I've seen, but that just means I have more stuff to go learn. I like the concept of your list a lot.

Hitchcock is always fascinating. I hope you'll be able to see many of these, Tom. You're in for a treat!

I did and it was indeed spooky. So was The Ring. I guess I prefer the lesser known works that most people haven't seen.

Of course, but these are the ones that stood out and that I haven't reviewed. I like to offer new material in lists. :-)

...surprise you to know that I haven't seen a single film on this list? Probably not. Still, I'm tented to get a hold of "Secret Agent" because I haven't seen a Hitchcock film or TV episode that's disappointed me. Nice list, some things to think about when my favorite reality TV shows end.

You jumped from 1950 to 2000... nothing good in between? I've seen many of the films you like and agree they are great. Thanks, Jan!

I watched The Ghost and Mrs. Muir on TV so much, but I've never seen the original film. This is the second time I have seen it on a list someone has compiled, so I'll have to see if Netflix has it on DVD.
