Pros: Can't think of one right now...
Cons: Your are alone in your educational endeavor.
The Bottom Line: Very poor quality, the school was part of the pilot study to repeal the 50-rule and could not manage their growth.

| notanewbie's Full Review: Capella University |
I honestly have never seen such incompetence and unethical behavior in my entire academic career. The classes are easy and students post a page a week and then do a short paper at the end. There are no resources, no powerpoints from the instructors, little feedback, no cohorts, no video or web links, no articles or mini-outlines for each week. You get a book and a syllabus and that's it.
Many of the instructors aren't present in the classes and if you call them you get the run around. They ignore you and hire staff with dubious online educational backgrounds. Capella keeps almost everyone as an adjunct and they have a very high turnover of leadership, administration, and their faculty.
The staff reluctantly serves on comprehensive committees and dissertations for a mere $150 dollars per student so don't expect full contribution. However, do guard your intellectual property by revealing nothing to their faculty professors. Capella will not protect you or your property and discriminates against anyone who stand up to them.
Capella also does not provide adequate curriculum for the degrees they issue. Despite the fact that they are federally accredited, remember, they are paid to keep the doors open and the cash rolling. Furthermore, their financial aid office is a mess complete with miserable bookeeping. If there is an error they blame you and then expect you to pay for it.
There are lots of great schools who offer distance learning that have onsite facilities that charge LESS. I hope they never see the APA accreditation they touted in 2000' for their CEU's to bait and switch those individuals who hoped they would be approved by now.
They should be shut down and given strong training in ethics, integrity, and effective institutional policies.
