The Bottom Line It's a good site for most of the stuff you're looking for on any game. A few rough spots like high prices or games that aren't listed on the site...

Not until recently has EB (Electronics Boutique) become like a plague of international gaming. In the days of yore, when the Super Nintendo was still in retail and the PlayStation and Saturn were just warming up in the competition, there was one store that I had not known about, but it seemed like an exceptionally high-class video game retailer. The place was only a store, one store. But this video game shop, small in size, packed more of a punch than any of the Kaybees' or Toys "R" Us' that I had been to. Their theory seemed to be the "Ultimate" in video games. And I guess once word got out about them - with them making mergers in between with Babbages, and even connections with the big shot magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly - their growing image of the past turned them into a widescreen motion picture for the future.
Have you ever had to travel all of the way to a store and ask the cashier when a certain game was going to be released? Their computers will tell you. But if you were to visit EBgames.com, YOUR COMPUTER can tell you, too! That is, for the most part anyway. Once you're at their site, you can type in any game name you want, and there will be results that pertain to the title of what you're looking for. And each time the site gives a precise, or close enough release date to the user.
I am disappointed that certain games in the close future (Fall 2001, for instance) aren't featured in their database yet. That leads to the dilemma of having to wait until I either travel my butt over to the store itself to ask manually, or wait until, surprisingly, the game is coming out soon, and I had no idea beforehand. Thanks a lot for telling me some things EB, but not EVERYTHING!
The site is by far one of the easiest to use. At the main page, you'll be invited to some of the new highlights. When the Game Boy Advance was going to be launched, the one thing that EBgames.com had up for a long while was the first-rate choice of automatically clicking on a link from the first page to pre-order the game hardware, and in many forms rather than just one. Other things featured on the main page are games that are coming up in the current week, or the week afterwards. And there's even games coming in the future weeks after that. Furthermore, there's the main news feed, which is linked to their partner site (and one very good one at that), IGN.com.
Heck, you can even write your own previews, and then submit them to the EB site for user information. I mostly use EB for the upcoming game features, release dates, and whatever else I have in store from what to know about certain games.
EBgames.com is rich with each and every console, PC, and handheld info (the hottest ones anyway) that you can imagine. From the interface, you'll notice the many different links to PlayStation 2, PlayStation, GameCube, Dreamcast, Xbox, PC Hardware, and so on. If you're blind as bat and stupid as a rat, then you can just use their search feature located to the left side of the screen for choosing the exact platform that you want, and which games or accessories to search for.
If you can't keep up with visiting the site daily, you can try out their newsletter for free. This newsletter updates you on the weekly news, new games, reviews, and tons of more features! Friday mornings seem a little dull without knowing what's up with what to know in video game progress.
One very bad feature (one that doesn't have to do with the site itself, but rather their policy) is their high prices. I usually don't spend much time anymore buying a product at an EB location. The reason? The prices soar higher than Michael Jordan. Well, a few dollars higher, anyway. Games, such as PlayStation 2 games, that you can find at any other retailer for $50 would be $55 found at an EB location. I'm not sure why their prices are high. After all, they do have a lot of good selections to choose from, and are well-respected in the business. But other than that, that's really the only bad reputation that I can pinpoint toward their store.
Buying things online, if you don't mind their high prices this can be easy. Just like any other online store, they have a great selection of all video games. And since EBgames.com is a video game retailer and not a bookstore that also deals in other ways than one, you can expect games from a game place. EBgames.com usually always guarantees their delivery in 24 hours.
Other than video games or computer games, the site also deals in selling toys, like action figures and even accessories. Their prices online usually match their store prices, so no longer will you have to exercise your legs to buy a game, game accessory, or toy. Just use your fingers from now on!
For such a productive retailer with so many allies, and so handy, you won't find much that you cannot like in the world of gaming. I would suggest, though, that you might want to try and see if their prices match better or worse than some other retailers online. I usually find that other places are better for a purchase. But if you're willing enough to spend a few more dollars, and use the easy and informative site, go right on ahead: They're waiting for you!
