Let the Bubbles Begin!
Dishes... unless you use disposable dishware or eat out a lot, dishes have to be washed. Even with a dishwasher, a bottle of dish soap remains a necessity. When I ran out of my usual soap, my husband came back from the store with this Ultra Concentrate Dawn Oxi. I don't know how he choose this dish soap but it was a good selection.
Made in the U.S.A.
The Ultra Concentrated Dawn Oxi is 25 ounces of blue liquid dish soap with a mild soap scent. The soap bottle has a flip top dispenser, which is easy to open (even with wet hands), and is made to minimize any drips that would cause gunk build-up. I would say it does this alright. My bottle has minor build-up on it. Additionally the bottle features hand grip indentations near the top, making it easier to hold.
Obviously this is a concentrated dish soap. Now, this does not mean you have to think hard to use it, but rather that it takes less of the clear blue liquid to get the same amount of suds as regular dish soap. In my experiences, this creates a good amount of bubbles with a small amount of soap.
Time to do the Dishes
In our house, I have a dishwasher to assist me with the daily chore of dishes. Unfortunately not everything fits in my compact dishwasher - like pots, pans and well, anything rather large. Since there are only a few larger pieces to be washed at a time, I tend to only "sponge" wash (using a paper towel or plastic scrub), instead of running a full sink of water.
Appling a nickel sized amount to either a paper towel or scrubby, I can work up a pretty good lather and make short work of cleaning my non-stick pans as well as miscellaneous bowls and cutting boards needing a hand wash. In the process of washing, the soap feels smooth then rinses off very easily leaving only a clean feeling. This brings me to my largest problem with this soap. I find that when I need to either rinse off my towel or get it a little wetter the suds also rinse away quickly, needing to use a little more.
Baked on Whatevers?
Now, I do not have non-stick bake ware, which means I have to work a little harder to get the baked cheese off the pizza pan. One of the claims of Dawn Oxi is its active oxides which releases thousands of micro-bubbles and penetrates deep to lift and dissolve grease. (from the bottle). I have found that dishes take considerably less "soaking time" with the Dawn Oxi than with other soaps I have used. My typical grease mess to clean is on the stove-top. Using my dish towel with Dawn Oxi makes for minimal scrubbing.
Can Someone Recommend a Good Lotion?
Every time my hands come out feeling pretty dry. I would attribute the drying to the nature of the active oxide's grease fighting abilities. I live with it... by morning they are fine.
Overall:
I have been using Ultra Concentrated Dawn Oxi for approximately seven months (I believe it was bought in October but I can't remember since it has been so long) and have a third of the bottle remaining, leaving another two or more months of use. Not to shabby for $2.69. Those doing a full sink of dishes everyday will find it goes faster, but it is definitely worth the cost.
From Dawn: Not for use in dishwasher (big mess if you do) Dawn contains biodegradable surfactants (anionic and nonionic) and enzymes. Contains no phosphate.
