It would have been great if you were there, but I don't think I would advise going AWOL for it. Maybe next time! We should have one annually whether or not it's sponsored directly by epinions or not!

Hi Patti and all others who made it.... (Reply to this comment)

I was supposed to be there, but since I have been recalled to active duty with the Air Force, I had to work that day at the last minute. Just leaving would have resulted in AWOL charges and I did not want to deal with THAT!

I wish I could have been there; I would loved to have met some of the most talented writers I have ever not met (although we have met at epinions, right?).

I sure hope they have another NYC event again soon. I may go AWOL, yet.

What was nice is that a couple of the members I've "talked to" via email were there for me to meet! It was a lot of fun, and I'd happily go to another that was in driving distance again. Too bad San Francisco is 3,000 miles away!

Aww, Jack.

Well I'm happy to say that I'd certainly travel (if time and money allowed) to another M&G. I wasn't nervous at all either, and it helps to get there early. But yeah, they were just so great, I'd love to meet everyone again.

Unofficial events are cool, too!

Hey, this sounds like it would be really fun! Too bad that I live too far away to be able to make it to one of these things..... I do "talk" to a number of members via email and even speak to one on the phone quite often, but it isn't the same as actually meeting someone, and actually hearing their voice and interacting with them.......
and yes I think xiphoid is pretty hot too!

Hello Virginia,

I really haven't met you, though I have r/r some of your work.

Though being relatively new here I still believe I can say that many, many, would liked to have met you in person! Common you party animal you must make one!!

Yes Virgina, there is a wonderful community here. I ,like all the rest, really enjoyed interacting with people we just knew from the other side of a monitor.

Maybe you will make one of these M&Gs some day.

I would so much have liked to be there - What a great review about some great people. I enjoyed this a lot. People are in general pretty nice, and people from Epinions are special.

Hmm. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing....

I did enjoy that conversation with Garrett. It's a pity more people didn't take advantage of the opportunities.

Thanks for the comment!

The DC one I would make. It's be a great excuse to tour the city since my parents (who always insist they took me so many places as a child) never took me there and I'd like to scope it out before I take my own kids there.

Well, I didn't think it was important unless I was writing a history of the Epinions website ;-) Actually, I was pretty shocked that he discussed it at all.

I let go of things fairly easily. Something that happened 2 years ago is pretty much water under the bridge.

Dear AliventiAsylum: Very witty, very helpful.

You are very much as I thought you might be that day we spent on the phone with Garrett.

by drdevience
I know California somewhere is for sure the next one.. then if I were them I'd take it to Texas and Chicago.. then back here to the DC area.

At any rate, I'll make any that I can. That was just hella fun!

I wasn't nervous because I've done this before. I was more nervous the first time I traveled all the way to Florida to meet a bunch of people I didn't know online. Once I'd done that, meeting up with people so close to home is a piece of cake.

Thanks for the comment!

Well that's good to hear. Gosh, those pictures looked awful. I'd think about attending if they did another meet -n- greet in DC or Philly, so maybe they'll think about it if they can get the turnout.

Well, if enough people suggested it to them when they were taking submissions, I'd say it's a good possibility! Someone else mentioned Chicago, so I would look for one there eventually.

Thanks for the comment!

I would love to get together sometime!

It would be cool to have it an annual thing, even if we had to do it without the Epinions staff. Imagine what we could talk about then ;-)

Nope, he didn't. I was surprised he did actually talk about it as it wasn't exactly a shining moment in Epinions history. After all this time, would it really matter?

Re: Hey Patti, (Reply to this comment)

It was a success. I think it's so easy to criticize people when they are some anonymous figure, but once they are "real people" - and especially such nice real people - it gets a lot harder to justify the beating they've taken at times.

Loved meeting you Phil - let's not wait for the next meet -n- greet to do it again!

Chicago could make the cut - it's a pretty big city. I've heard rumors that a West Coast one or a Texas one are in the works.

Thanks for the concern but despite heavy rain yesterday, I was not flooded out. Nice review and hopefully they will do this again on the East Coast because it was nice meeting you (and others) and I did have a good time.

do a meet and greet in Chicago or somewhere close to it. I would have loved to have gone to this last one but being pregnant New York is a little to far for me to travel.
