A quick summary. Earthlink has autoforwarding. Spamcop.net has E-mail accounts with spam filtering and virus elimination. (If your MSP doesn't have autoforwarding, spamcop.net has the option to poll a POP or IMAP server, but I'd still probably lose messages.)

There's still over a MB a day of defective copies, either because they're caught by the victim's ISP or MSP, or because they're sent defective. I'll ask spamcop.net if they are willing to filter those.

Tom:

You mean I should listen to other people over you? Perish the thought!!!

When is middle-aged? Just so I can know when to stop using "lol." :-)

And padding your comment count, in a nice way, of course...

Hey, great!!! Nothing wrong with that! Leave as many as you like...I like the feeling of long comment fields. Makes me feel....special.

Sue:
Aw, that's so sweet! But you didn't really creep me out - it was my own memory of the stupid girl.

Yeah, that would do it too, I think.

I had to go back and check on that. Seems I inexplicably missed some innuendo. This is not like me at all. Now your proposals were most chivalrous - to change species? That's true gallantry. Aaron was the one making thinly veiled lewd suggestions. Always enjoyable, but not the least bit chivalrous.

Damn those missing comment alerts!

I'm nothing if not gallant. I try to be subtly lewd, not overtly lewd. That way, I'm chivalrous but yet eyebrow-raising. I see it worked. :-)

Now I must go embrace my inner dragon.

What a lucky dragon...

Dave,

That's what I'm here for, Sue. To creep you out.

Aw, that's so sweet! But you didn't really creep me out - it was my own memory of the stupid girl.

If my proposals to you on my Mistress of Dragons review didn't creep you out enough, I can always do more. :-)

...of course, leave it where it is.

Hell, we have other on-site experts about 'what goes where' before you
should even think about listening to me...lol....

men who type lol on the internet...]

I was just thinking out loud.

I found an answer, thanks to google answers and spamcop -- both of which may get reviews from me shortly, if I can find them on Epinions.

Hi Arthur

No, I have no advice, though one thing you can do is get a program called Mailwasher. It doesn't prevent them and you still have to delete them, but the messages never even make it to your computer. Mailwasher checks the server, lets you preview the messages if you want, and you can then delete them from the server without them ever getting to your computer. You can also, many times, bounce them back as "undeliverable," though that doesn't seem to stop them.

It's a great program that I love. But it just transfer the annoyance in this case, it doesn't remove it.

Hi Brian

"Horror fantasy," eh? Y'know, I hadn't thought of that, but you're right. It fits perfectly. :-)

I'm still getting inundated with this stuff, at the tune of about 60 an hour or so. I had to log into my work email about 5 times a day over the weekend just to clean it out so actual *useful* mail didn't get bounced. I still think I missed some, though. I wish I had an idea of who was infected.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Hi Ed

I'm sorry you clicked on one of these things. Always keep in mind that Microsoft *never* distributes patches or whatever like this.

I'm glad I was able to lighten you up a little bit after all of your problems. :-)

Hey Tom

Thanks for thinking of me, but I think I like it right where it is. Consider it one of those fictional "ripped from the headlines" Law & Order episodes. :-)

do you have any advice as to what to do if your E-mailbox gets 20 an hour? I'm not infected, but I'm afraid someone who knows me is.

hey there again...

Actually, the topic of your essay is indeed non-fiction (I think?)
delivered in the form of a . . .parable.

So perhaps the original post was indeed in the correct place.

My head is spinning. I better go read a 'beauty' review...:smilie moment:...

Reminds me of the times that my Mother has called me with regard to emails received from friends, telling her to delete certain files because they are viruses. She finally 'gets' that there are hoaxes and how to check to see if those emails are such.

Take care~~~~

I suppose there have to be people like this girl - since someone seems to think it's worth sending these e-mails out. That you bring such a person to life makes a startling and vivid work of horror fantasy, and i enjoyed it muchly.

I "clicked" on one of those Microsoft patch e-mails and before I knew it my email was spammed up to my eyeballs. I spent the rest of the day finding a cure: Symantec has a FixSwen.exe file (one of the many names this thing uses) and I'm finally clean. This was a funny read to find after all the grief I just went through.

What the fu....??

I know I was here earlier and left a comment. A brilliant, witty, enriching comment.

Where did it go ?!?

I am too 'taken aback' to attempt to re-create it just now. Perhaps later.

For now: Very..nicely..done !!
