When my mother died, she left behind a lot of furniture. My mother loved furniture and she collected many many odd pieces.
In my home I have many victorian era pieces, and I even have a corner cupboard from the 1700s. I am proud of these wonderful pieces, and love to look at them. But I have to admit caring for them can be a challenge.
My mohogeny desk is hard to keep clean, the gate leg tables love to keep dust in their crevices. Dusting is challenging.
I was walking through the grocery store the other day looking for some Old English Polish when I discovered that Old English had created Old English Wipes in a 25 count canister. The price was 4.89. Compared to the cost of the spray cleaner, it was a lot more but I opted for the ease of use of these wipes.
I purchased the plastic canister and headed home. I wanted to try these out.
The scent was not something I could distinguish, but it was clean smelling. Very much like the spray furniture polish. I loved using the wipe on the spindle of the gate leg tables and on the claw leg of my "tip top" table. It was easy to get into the crevices with these wipes and I did not have residue left behind like I would with the spray. The wipes are tough yet soft to the touch. My hands did not feel dried out after using them.
The only problem I found with the wipes is that they use up quickly. They dry fast and really do not go as long as I would like them to. The 25 count canister will not last long in my home.
The wipes are smaller than a papertowel, more like the size of a tissue, maybe a little larger (longer). They come easily out of the canister as you pull them through the opening in the top.
I like the concept and for a quick dusting they do the trick. I will use them again, I just wish that there were more than 25 in the container. To dust my furniture it took me 12 wipes. One canister will last me a week at this rate. The spray container lasts me a lot longer, and is less expensive. I have to admit though that I like the ease of use of the wipes, they are very convenient.
The wipes dusted and shined my furniture just as well as the polish, and again, probably better because I did not have to worry about whether or not I sprayed the polish evenly on the surface of my furniture.
I recommend them. The canister is easy to open, no problems. They are not around long enough for me to figure out how long they dry out in the container. But they did the trick and that is what matters! Dusting is a lot easier with these handy wipes!
