and glad to find another person who knows the writings of Saki. I reviewed his complete works in two parts some time ago on this site.

I wonder about the last line in italics. Doesn't seem part of her note. I've heard good things about Gnosticism. Jesus was a gnostic. Your story makes me want to read up on gnosticism. Thanks!

Re: Ghost? or perhaps theology---- (Reply to this comment)

Some deeply religious people I know believe in a God who knew every detail of each of our individual lives at the moment of creation. Can't buy into THAT, but every culture has it's theology---so perhaps a belief in a Guiding Force and some sort of underlying justice satisfies a deep human need---which strikes me as the point of your story.

The belief you're talking about sounds like Gnosticism, which has always struck me as a devout and beautiful theology. As a Catholic, I don't really buy into it - nonetheless, I think it's a thought-provoking concept.

And that's a significant part of it - looking at Chloe's story, anyway. In that regard, I was sort of examining the theme of justice higher than we're really capable of sensing, and how somebody else bringing that to our attention can save us.

I don't want to reveal too much, but Saki's story of the same name as this might help in understanding another aspect of the story. Basically, it's that not all is on the "up-and-up". I won't be any more definite, or offer and more clues.

That said, thanks for your insightful comments, and I'm glad you liked the story!

Denver to Tulsa must be one difficult adjustment!

Believe it or not, it hasn't been at all. It's definitely been a change, but everybody down here's so nice, and I like my classes so much, that I've had a very easy time settling in. (I understand that pretty much everybody else got homesick or whatever.)
