Updated June 16, 2007: I recently returned from my NYC visit. While I was there I found my New York Pass to be invaluable. In the 3 days it was valid for I visited 11 different attractions. At an average of $17 per place I would have paid $187 total if I hadn't bought the Pass for $108 ($102 + $6 S&H). A nice savings of $79. I was treated respectfully and the New York Pass was recognized at every attraction. If I visit any of the cities that VISITicket services I will be sure to use their pass again!
I'm visiting New York City in June of this year. I am not rich and work hard for my money, so I am budgeting to get the most bang for my buck. One of the ways I'm doing this is with The New York Pass I bought online from VISITicket. Paying a set fee for the pass gives me entry into over 40 attractions and discounts on a few shops and restaurants. Besides NYC, you can buy a pass for Las Vegas, New Orleans, Honolulu and Philadelphia. The tickets can be bought as a one, two, three or seven day pass.
My VISITicket Experience
Visiting the homepage of VISITicket I found the option to click on any of the cities listed above. There is a short synopsis of what VISITicket is about. More importantly, I saw that 3 and 7 day passes were on sale for 15% off. Since I was wanting a 3 day pass this was a plus!
I clicked on the New York button and found myself with the option to see all attractions the pass would allow entry to or I could check each area out individually. (Cultural & Historical, Museums, Zoos, Aquariums and much more) Highlighted attractions listed were; Empire State Building Observation Deck, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Immigration Museum, NBC Studio Tour, Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises, and Madame Tussauds New York. As you can see we're talking major tourist attractions.
Is It a Good Deal?
The 3 day pass I purchased is regularly $120. With the 15% off I paid $102. Taking the 5 highlighted attractions above the price of admission would be; Empire State Building - $20, Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island - $11.50, NBC Studio Tour - $18.50, Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises- $17 to $29 and Madame Tussaud's New York - $29, for a total of $96 (the total has the lowest Circle Line Cruise price added). We (my sister and I) plan on seeing at least 5 more attractions, so the attraction fees would put us well above what we paid for the pass, making it a great savings.
More Perks
Another plus to having the New York Pass is that it allows fast track entry to most attractions. Any lines I can bypass to save time is a major bonus to me.
I, also, received a guide book with a lot of information on the attractions offered. There are maps at the bottom of each attraction page to show other places within close proximity. This guide is going to be a great tool in helping us plan out our itinerary and save on travel time.
Purchasing the Pass
At the bottom of each page there is a red "Buy Now" button. At the top of the purchase page you can click on which city you wish to purchase the pass for and the option of adult or child's 1, 2, 3 or 7 day pass. The prices are shown next to each option, with the discounted prices in red. Click the drop down box next to your choice and choose the number of passes you want. Click "add to cart".
After choosing the "add to cart" button, on the right of the page you will see what you ordered and the "Proceed to Checkout" button.
The checkout page will have you fill out your personal and credit card information. Credit cards that are accepted include; American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa and JCB. For shipping you can choose to pick up your pass (at NYC's Hard Rock Cafe) for free, standard ground for $6, FedEx 3 and 2 day for $14 & $19. There is, also, International shipping for $20 & $50. This is a secure https: page. Next you review and confirm order.
After confirming my order I was taken to a page that showed my purchase and had my order number on it. I printed it out, but it wasn't necessary as I had an email within minutes with all the pertinent information.
I chose standard ground shipping for $6. I ordered my New York Pass on a Saturday and received it in my mail the next Thursday. Extremely fast service here!
Is It too Good to Be True
With so many scams going on in the world today, I was worried that this little credit card type pass was one of them. One low set price to see over 40 major NYC attractions? I emailed some of the attractions to verify that they did accept The New York Pass. The people at the Empire State Building & Madame Tussaud's assured me that they welcomed the pass.
Easy
Ordering at VISITicket was the easiest I've done online...ever. It's a simple process for what looks to be a great deal. I received my package in a timely manner and love the guidebook.
If you're visiting any of the listed cities and plan on doing a lot of sightseeing, I suggest you visit VISITicket for an easy way to pre-purchase your way in to attractions galore!
