The Bottom Line Consider cold turkey -- it seems to be working for me!

It has been a while since I've dropped by this site as I have been very very busy.
Last Wednesday I decided that I did not want to be a smoker any more. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to quit many times. I have used the patch and the gum, but neither really worked for me.
As of today I have been smoke free for nine days and I feel confident that this time I am truly free...
What's different?
Well, for one thing, the way I came to the decision is a positive one -- I will become a non-smoker, I will be free of cigarettes etc.
Another is that I am going "cold turkey."
Finally, I tried acupuncture on Tuesday and it really seems to work!
Here are some of the things I did during the first few days (I was nearly through the first week when I went for the acupuncture treatment)
1. I wrote cue cards with a reason to stop smoking (benefit), some ways to augment the benefit, and a reward to treat myself with at the end of thirty days. For example:
Benefit:
My apartment will not stink of tobacco smoke
Augmentation:
Wash floors, clothes, rugs, sweaters (I listed everything and used the cleaning to occupy my hands)
Spray with Febreeze
Open windows
Reward:
A new throw rug
If I can do it, so can you (I was a smoker for 30 years)
