I bought this product because I need a home color laser printer to make journals, bookmarks, etc. My friend has a HP 2600N but I wasn't impressed with its qualities so much. After reading some reviews online, I decided to go ahead with this Lexmark model. Many commented it has excellent color qualities.
I'm not totally disappointed with it. Its color quality is not too bad--even though I don't see any significant different from the HP model since they are around the same price range. The text is crisp even printed on images. Overall speaking, I am rather satisfied with this printer.
However, I have a few comments about it. First, it's way more bulky compared to the HP 2600N. It's not only heavier by a lot, its dimension also exceeds the former. Second, it takes a long (and I mean REALLY long!) time to collaborate colors EVERYTIME you turn the printer on. It would take at least 3-5 minutes auto-pilot. It can be very annoying if you're planning to do a quick job. Thirdly, it's also pretty noisy compared to HP 2600N. The noise obviously exceeds the HP counterpart. Fourthly, it doesn't take heavy weight paper well. I used 80lb paper with HP and it went through the document feeder fine. But Lexmark didn't do a good job taking in thick paper, especially the document feeder is not as innovative as HP one.
Given all these shortcomings, I have to commend its toner. I've done quite some print jobs on it, and I still haven't changed the toner yet. With every color laser, changing toners means $400 up. I'm waiting for that day to come. But right now, it seems going strong even though I was told it comes only with half-full toners.
