Pros:The room itself.
Cons:The billing practices are highly questionable.
The Bottom Line: As stated in my review, avoid if using your own CC. If your office is paying, go right ahead.
I used to live in Hoboken and work in Jersey City so I knew quite a bit more about the area than most travelers; indeed if you're going to visit New York you should seriously consider staying in Jersey City near a PATH station. JC gets a bad rep, but in certain respects it's undeserved. The waterfront is a great place.
The room itself was nice, clean and well-located. Not to mention amazingly reasonably-priced for a room with a kitchen in the New York City area. Personally I really liked the "Candlewood Pantry" concept, it's a great addition to that sort of extended-stay hotel.
However at checkout the bill featured 3 billed nights for a 2-night stay. I still can't figured out how this could possibly have happened by accident. The error was corrected, but the authorization for the 3-night stay had already been taken on my credit card. Furthermore there were two further authorizations for one night each placed on my card, AND Travelocity had taken a two-night authorization as well, so when the (correct) two-night authorization was taken I had been authorized for a total of four-and-a-half times my stay.
This resulted in me having to skip eating on my trip back because my CC was over the limit and I could not use it to buy gas. Definitely not a good thing.
I contacted the hotel management about this and nothing was done. The incorrect authorizations expired after a week, but the damage was done. Don't go there unless you're using an American Express card, or your work is paying in advance with THEIR CC...
