I would like to suggest the SPORTSBRAIDER as a product to be reviewed by Epinions. I am not suggesting that I like this product at all. I am very curious as to what others have thought of this product. I am curious because I want to know if there is a flaw with my ability to follow their "EASY-TO-FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS", or have I been ripped off?
The SPORTSBRAIDER is a product that is supposed to give you the look of French Braided hair. The front of the box shows four different models with four different French Braiding styles. It also claims that I will be able to, "Get beautiful French Braids without even knowing how to braid!" It also claims it is "As EASY as lacing up a shoe!"
I decided upon the SPORTSBRAIDER as a tool for my daughter, in hopes that she could use this for school. She has long, straight, healthy hair. I thought that this might be nice as she likes no fuss type styles. When she has a "BAD" hair day she ties her hair up in a knot. I thought that this would be a more attractive and professional type alternative.
We sat down and I opened the package to reveal the Instructions. It only had four steps on the package and I was sure this would be fool proof.
The SPORTSBRAIDER is a very flimsy gray piece of plastic resembling a repetitive "S" shape.
We spent several hours trying to figure this product out. At the end of four hours we were both frustrated and her head was sore.
It seemed as if I had a problem following each step. With step one, it shows the model with the SPORTSBRAIDER under a piece of hair from the top of the head. You are directed to feed a piece of hair from the top of the head and feed it into the first two loops of SPORTSBRAIDER. Ok now, I have my daughter sitting down and I grab the top piece of hair on her head. I proceed to try to feed it into the first two loops only to find that the first loop is smaller than the rest of the loops. When I tried to feed that first loop the hair seemed to fall out. I did the best I could with this step and wasn't sure if I was doing this properly. I could not tell by the photo in the first step if I was anywhere near to being correct.
After about an hour of this I moved on to step two. It tells you to take a piece of hair and cross it over the top of the SPORTSBRAIDER and feed it into the next loop. It did not say what to do with that hair strand once you have feed it through the loop. I was very confused and the photo illustrated offered no help.
Step three was like step two only repeating on the opposite side. Step four says that you should continue down the head filling each loop of the SPORTSBRAIDER with even pieces of hair from alternating sides of the head. It shows a perfect braid in step four.
I did not find this product to be as easy as lacing up a shoe!!!! In fact I feel like I have been ripped off. I purchased the SPORTSBRAIDER at Walmart for about $5.00. I feel that the quality of this product and the lack of directions that came with this product I have wasted $5.00! I should have never paid over fifty cents for this product.
I am wondering if the people who have ordered there SPORTSBRAIDER off of the television maybe received more directions with theres? I wonder if they paid more than I did? I think this little piece of plastic should have came with a video.
Now from these pictures they have on the cover of the package, If I could have achieved that look I would have paid well over twenty-dollars for this product. I think people who can't French Braid would have paid a nifty price if they could get this product to work. I am sure it would have spread around like wild fire. I am almost sure that this is why I have never heard of this product before.
Over all, I would not recommend this product unless you find it on a bargain table for under Fifty-cents!! I would not recommend even spending Fifty-cents unless you just want to take the chance. Fifty-cents spent is still Fifty-cents wasted if you can't get this French Braiding Tool to work. Good Luck.
