my steps on choosing cleats

Apr 15 '04

The Bottom Line as said above

ok before you go choose your cleats:
1)check the web on the products you favour and make comparisons between different brands, make an estimation of your price range and be realistic when making up your mind.
2) check message boards just like this one and see what professionals can offer.

when u shop around:
1) don;t feel bothered about going around to compare prices in retail stores becuse u could well get an extra pair of soccer socks with a few pounds in difference.

2) choose a few styles at once, so u can get the feel of the different models at the same time, and don;t just try it on, but wear BOTH and walk around with it.
leave it on for while and see how it feels on your feet, sometimes it feels fine at the moment u slip your foot into it, but afterwards, u may find your toes hurting when running with it, i personally think it can lead to more serious problem. e.g. shin splints.

3) if possible try and make a few quick moves, stamping your feet on the floor and see how u react to the boots, if it hurts, then probably it's not the best buy.

4)wear the type of socks that u would play on pitch, it just fits better.

after u have bought your boots, keep it in good condition by doing basic actions i.e. get rid of the mud, and ALWAYS untie the shoelaces before u take off your boots, u want it to last longer...right? some people tend to put teabags to absorb the smell, but it all depends.

.afterwords:
the idea of moulded blades is to give better body movmement especially when turning your body around or sudden changes in speed.
studs are the traditional way and should work fine under most conditions.
you should go for the boots that u like, most probably because of that, u will perform better, just a plecebo effect.

ok this is my bottom line, (couldn't fit it in so i decided to place it in here)
the FIT is very important, as in ANY competitive sport, the structure of the shoe can directly affect ur performance on the pitch despiute how well ur basics are, you would like to buy a pair of cleats that can maximise and help you deliver your potential but not just for style)
