Good deals, Bad Selection
I have visited joann.com to purchase cake decorating supplies. So far, I have only made one purchase on this website, although I have tried to purchase items on the site multiple times. The website is very frustrating, but offers deals so good that I keep going back!
I really can only speak to joann.com’s cake decorating supplies section of their website as I have not tried to purchase any other items from this seller. Upon first view, joann.com appears to have a decent selection of supplies. They carry many Wilton products, although there are many other Wilton products that are not on the site. They do, however, seem to carry most of the basics and popular products.
I want to make it clear that it may appear that joann.com has a decent variety of items available for sale. This is because when you actually go to order an item, you will probably see that it is out of stock. I wanted to order a Wilton shaped cake pan, and I visited the site every day for a month. Although it was shown as an available product, once you clicked on it there was a message saying the item was out of stock. After a month of being out of stock, the item was eventually removed from joann.com altogether.
I also wanted to purchase a 50-piece decorating caddy. This item was also out of stock. I decided to use joann.com’s email notification system. I typed in my email address and was told that joann.com would email me when the item was available again. I never received the email, but I noticed one day that the item was back in stock so I placed an order. Later that night, I visited the site again and the item was out of stock again! I can’t believe that items can sell out so quickly!
I did, however, receive my purchase very quickly and in great condition. In addition, I was able to purchase this caddy for about 50 percent less than I would have paid anywhere else. Joann.com has coupon codes that entitle you to 40 percent or 50 percent off one item. They also have free shipping codes that may or may not be worth more than the percent off codes, depending on what you are purchasing. My 50-piece caddy by Wilton is listed at $50.00 at wilton.com and I have seen it range from $45 to $55 at various other online stores. I bought it at joann.com for $25 plus shipping!
I have also read about a program at joann.com that entitles you to free shipping for the remainder of the year once you make three $25 purchases. That sounds like an amazing program to me, especially considering some of the products I may wish to buy in the future are relatively heavy. The free shipping is in addition to any coupon codes you may have, so had my caddy been my fourth purchase it would have cost me an even $25!
In general, waiting for an item to come back into stock at joann.com is a very frustrating and long process. But, if you wait for the right coupon code, this website offers deals that make the wait well worth it. I will absolutely order from this site again once the products I want come back into stock.
