The Bottom Line The Handspring store is a great site with well organized information on all their products and compatible third-party software and springboard modules, and they have great customer service.

I had been interested in buying a PDA for quite awhile when a friend suggested checking out the Handspring website. It got me hooked on their products, and I've bought a Visor Edge from them, the red sports car model. I'm impressed with the product and impressed with the company.
The information on their website is organized very well. It's very easy to find whatever type of product you're looking for, whether it's a PDA, a springboard module, an accessory or software. They have quite a selection of products with detailed information, from Handspring itself as well as springboard modules and software from other companies.
The site has pages set up to help you choose what type of PDA you may need depending on what you plan to do with it. It also has some side by side comparisons between the different PDAs.
The springboard module information pages are very well organized. You can search by type of product, such as communications, games, multimedia, and memory, and then get a listing of all the modules of that type side by side. I found this very helpful when I was looking into wireless modems, since there are quite a few different brands and types of service to choose from.
Their customer service is excellent. The pages have lots of FAQ's on every topic, from how to get started with your Visor, to how to handle returns, repairs and replacements. I had the backlight go out on my Visor Edge and I dreaded having to return it and wait for a replacement. I figured it would take a long time and I'd have to be without my PDA for awhile, which I didn't want to do. But when I finally called the company they responded very quickly, in fact I received the replacement the next day, and so I was never without my PDA (for details on my experience getting the PDA replaced, see my review of the Visor Edge).
In the Cons above I said their response to email inquiries is a little slow. I'm not sure how a response time of 2-3 days compares to other online stores, but it seems a little slow to me. And my experience has been that they tend to give a pat answer to my first email, not really answering the question, so I would wind up sending at least two emails for each question. But if your questions are not urgent this system is fine. The best response is of course over the phone. When the backlight went out, like I said before I dragged my feet about contacting them, but if I needed their help again I wouldn't hesitate to call. They were very helpful and their return-and-replace system is extraordinary.
