I decided to join in, I just have to write mine up. My poem will be so bad, it probably won't even ryhme in some spots.
Wait! Bad poetry I think has little to do with presence or lack of rhyme, though indeed rhyme can be done very well or poorly. Anyway, give it your best shot; the more pat, cliched, antiquated, strained, or maudlin the better!

Sorry to be so tardy getting here - I plead World Cycling Championship euphoria (it was so cool). But I'm still catching up, thus my tardiness. I will most definitely participate in this fine w/o - and like Mike, I'm glad there's no deadline (though I think I can do better than next June). Hey, man, I "penned" this poem in as fast as it took to type. Use the force, and I have no doubt you can sink as abysmally low as I did.
Favorite moments: either the pointless rhyming of "smiles" with "mules", or the way that you clarify "dusty dust-filled attic" to make the meter scan, after clearly establishing that it didn't matter whether the meter scanned or not.
Yay. The pointless "mules" off-rhyme, definitely one of my cherished stinkers.
I want to top this, but then i want quite a lot of other things beyond my talents. We'll see.
I know you can do it. Let go of all your literary ambitions and inhibitions, aim for the spot between cheese and bathos, and doggerel away.

OK, let's see: The 2nd Chance Write Off? That was easy.
And that 20-something thing. It's not every day that a user hits the freaking mother lode and then scurries away from the site when the heat gets turned up a little.
True, so true. And why did that user scurry away after hitting the mother lode? I honestly have only glimpsed innuendo and oblique suggestions well into the aftermath. I missed the bomb.
Love your stuff John. Even if you do have a wheel on a stick stuck up your a... uhh, stuck in your house. Even if I don't come around enough enough to show it...
