The Bottom Line 'Final recommendation' ? Just do the write-off already !!
.. One of the true faults of Epinions [well...besides low pay, low recognition, bad writers (you know who you are!), silly comment wars, a horrible search engine, lack of (or excess of!) egoboo, . . .someone stop me, please!] is the ephemeral nature of the solitary Epinions review. Conceived, composed, written, published, it will have a minimum amount of time on the assorted 'Just-In' pages site-wide. But soon, like a losing contestant in a virtual 'King-of-the-Hill' game, the lonely review slips down the page, down the list, until it virtually disappears. A prolific writer will push his/her own stuff down, out of sight. Not only on the 'Just-In' pages but even on their own user-page where only the last five reviews are displayed. Beneath the surface of Epinions, amongst the garbage and detritus, surely reside some unseen gems. Brilliant gems that capture a product in that rare moment of clarity and truth. Sobering reviews that bring a dry choke to your throat. Laughing reviews that still bring a stitch to your side when you re-read them. Informative reviews that simply 'nailed' a product, made you realize as a consumer that you _needed_ this product. trust12345 has created a write-off to allow us all to share our own gems with the users of this site. A 'Second chance', so to speak, to have these reviews read and valued as perhaps they should have been in their first go round. Enough of the set-up. Things I have rated 'Most-Helpful' Early here on the site, I decided to keep track of things I had rated 'Most Helpful'. Just as a record for myself and perhaps anticipating just this write-off. Just this moment. I won't plug any individual reviews here, but I will urge you to go check out my Things I've Rated 'Most Helpful !! list. It tends to be 'books' heavy. But I think that is a good thing! Pick a title that sounds interesting. Or a user you are unfamiliar with. Spread yourself on the site. Read something new. My 'best' review What! Only one! Yes, I will restrain my self-pimpage genes. I should probably pick something that has indeed been ignored, overlooked. But I can not. I must highlight that which I consider my personal best: "Last Man Down" ...Last job done. That is the review of which I am most proud. My single review that best captures for me the essence of the book and communicates that spirit to my reader here at Epinions. That's it! Easy, ehh?
