Game of the Year is well deserved title!

Pros: The Price: very affordable - the game has been out for a while.
Cons: Getting web play Heretic is a bit hard for me. Due to it's popularity.
The Bottom Line: If you like games like Doom, Doom II, Thief, Thief II and the like this game is for you.

Heretic II is a fast role playing game filled with
traps, puzzles , and monsters to fight your way
through as you go. Somewhat like the
GrandDaddy of all role playing games doom,
Heretic is a first person game where you are pitted
against the many evils of a mythical world as you
go about trying to locate a cure for a condition that
is killing his society.
On his journey he utilizes various weaponry against
hoards of enemies. Some swim, some fly, some hide
in the darken passageways and leap out to attack you
as go forth in your trek to seek your objectives.
No sooner than you have achieved one objective a new
one is presented and the trek takes a new twist.
The game is filled with tons of hidden levers which be
found before you can move through sealed doors. Many
of the trails lead you back from whence you came.
Fire, Water, Monsters, Spikes, Flying Creatures, Sea
Creatures, Beings on the land, all are obstacles in your
reaching the cure. Be careful or you will fall into a
bottomless pit. Walk too fast and you wont see it till it
is too late, Walk too slowly and the baddies will get you.
At times you will get to the point that you feel that there
is no way to move forward. Take a break and return to
your game that can be saved in a number slots.
Heretic II is not the game of Heretic One was. I is a
supercharged game that Heretic One should have been.
I bought the game last week and have been playing it
continually ever since I installed it. I am nearing the end
of the first level of the game. Like Doom and other role
playing games Heretic II has three levels of play. The first
level is obtainable, yet also has it's challenges, the second
level brings on more challenges and the level three is for
the suicidal purist.
This game received the Game of the Year and after playing
it I can see why.I was fortunate to locate the game at Software
Etc. for the low, low price of $5.95. Well worth it and more! I
have seen it lately for $19.96 and I would purchase it at that
price if I hadn't come across such a great deal. If you paid the
$49.95 original price for this software you didn't waste your
money.
Heretic II allows for online game play. I personally have not
experienced the online play, but I have seen where the online
game forums have a large number of participants.
