kbolton72's Full Review: Weber Genesis® E-310 Grill
You have to fight for your right to B-B-Q!!!!
Over the years, we have been through quite a few grills, both propane and charcoal, and I will swear by the old fashioned charcoal everytime. Weber is a name that my family trusts, and even though we had a bad experience with this model, I still trust this brand and will get over it. However, I will still warn you before you get your hopes up for hot dogs!!
THANK GOD I FOUND THIS - NOT
We are avid campers. When we are not camping, we are grilling like we are Chuck from Cast Away. We like eating amazon-style. For my husband, the master chef, size matters when it comes to the fire!! This model is fueled by propane, which you can buy at any Home Depot or Lowes to fill up once the tank is empty. We had a fryer for a while, and a portable mini propane grill that did not work well for us, so when we found this, it seemed to be the answer to our BBQ troubles. Little did we know.
REPLACING ANYTHING?
We actually replaced this, because it no longer works. The electrical ignition started to cease warming up and to this day we have no idea what happened because we just put it out to the road after it rusted, and the mechanics started falling apart. Nothing lasts forever, I guess.
HOW DOES THE WEBER E-130 GRILL WORK?
You push down on the knob and turn it counter clockwise to start the propane. You have to let it heat up, and sometimes it was a real pain trying to get it to start up. You want to make sure that the tank is always full, otherwise you can run out half way through.
You have to assemble this when you first buy it. It is about 30" deep, 47" tall, weighs about 160 lbs and about 60" wide. It has alot of cooking space, about 640 square inches of wrought iron that sits nicely for more than enough food for two people. It has a cabinet underneath for easy storage and to protect the propane tank, and a protective hood that slides down over the food when it is cooking, and when not in use. It rolls on wheels and is nice looking with black and the stainless steel appearance.
While it does have a heat thermometer, ours had overheated on more than one occasion. It takes a long time for the unit to cool down, so make sure that you keep the kids away! It has three burners, and two side tables, to keep your uncooked, your cooked food and your utensils in hands reach while you cook. It also has a tool holder on the side to use when you are not using them. The warming rack is nice to keep food warm while you are cooking more.
WHY IS MY LIFE BETTER OR WORSE FROM THIS PRODUCT?
We were excited when we first bought this model and initially had no problems, everything cooked fine, tasted great, and ran smoothly. After it sat over the winter, it began to fall apart, one thing at a time. My husband has no patience at all for things like this, so when it finally just stopped heating up even after we bought new propane, it went to the road, where a garbage picker picked it up, maybe they know how to fix things??
I can not recommend this, not because it is not a terrific grill, but because it does not stay a great grill for long. Buy something less expensive, because if you rock and cook like we do, you will be going through them like the laundry!
I still love Weber. We actually found another good deal that is a better make and model. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance!!
