It's like the day before Xmas around here. This is Halloween day. The countdown until night has started. Yesterday my husband took off to build more coffins and rig the cable that my daughter will be flying from. I never laughed so hard in my life as when I watched her put the harness on and dangle from the cable. "It's not fast enough she shouted, it needs WD40, Dad." Sprayed with WD40 and the next thing she is trudging along the cable. "Jenn, by the time you get to the other tree half the trick or treaters will be long gone." "Dangle next to the tree and act like you are hanging." I said. News flash! New idea now we will have Taylor our 8 year old little witch fly through the air. She loves to scare people. Okay, the music speakers are up and tested. The music entertained the neighbors last night I'm sure as my husband and daughters tested out everything. It is now three PM and I am pulling my hair half the time and the rest I am hiding in the bedroom. The annual congregation has begun. My niece and two daughters are here tweaking all the food, their children have arrived from school and costumes and makeup are flying everywhere. Fake hair, blood, teeth and makeup abound in my kitchen. the others should be arriving soon. Lets see to help in our annual Halloween scare the trick or treaters tradition, there will be 15 children here and 10 adults. I am hiding out with my small grandson who is terrified of the masks that the other kids have and he will be doing his candy run before dark. No, for anyone that wants to know we don't scare the little ones, we wait for the moms and dads and the teenagers who think they know it all and can't be scared. Last year one teenager locked his mother out of the car he was so scared. She liked to have never got him to open the door, of course, her laughing probably didn't do anything to help his ego. I am taking pictures and will post them tomorrow on my web site. Have a Happy Halloween and watch out for the boogy men. This is my entry into Sleeper54's Halloween night write off.
