The Bottom Line Just thought I'd try my hand at a little creative writing!
Dark brown eyes dancing with laughter held mine, a slightly pug nose set in a round face with a grin revealed small evenly spaced teeth along with dimples set in each rosy cheek. Auburn colored hair cascaded down her back in a riot of loose curls. It was held back loosely with a leather thong and wisps and tendrils escaped to nestle along her face and neck. She was tiny, maybe a little over 5 feet tall and had a sturdily built body with ample female curves. Clad in a long green woolen dress that had ornately embroidered flowers in maroon and black along the collar, cuffs and hemline. A large black leather belt encircled her waist and held an eating dagger of simple design but I could tell it was made of the finest steel. Her feet were encased in well worn but sturdy brown boots. She exuded an air of tranquility and calmness of one far older that her years. I was guessing her to be in years, about 20. My heart beat faster and was so loud I was sure she could hear it even though a good 15 feet still was between us. Could she be the one? In my dreams I was promised the one I was seeking would show herself soon but this girl did not fit the slim silhouette I had imagined in my mind’s eye. Still the goddess said I would know and there would be a sign. Angry at myself for not believing that I knew this to be the one, I scowled. A look of concern crossed the girls face and the laughter left her eyes. In a soft calm voice she asked if I was fine. Her voice has a lilt and she almost sounded if she were singing. I could not place the accent but that left my mind as she walked nearer. From her ears hung tiny jewels or was it ivory. I could not tell; they were not like any I’d ever seen before. Small and round with a lustrous sheen they peeked out from behind her curls and swayed gently with the rhythm of her walk.. The sign, the goddess’s sign of a full moon and I knew for certain she was the one I’d been waiting for. copyright 2003-char.mike  |
