A favorite joke of mine, and a less than favorite beer... Good on you.

It's the whole import/trendy thing.
Youngsters around here snub the likes of Tennents to pay premium prices for MGD.

The cans are a bright yellow colour with a big red T in the middle now. In these days of PC-ness, the ladies have disappeared for ever. Ah, memories!

Ahhh...Tennents.... (Reply to this comment)

MANY years back, I used to drink Tennents. Of course the only reason I bought was for the cans. They used to have some wonderfully scantily clad ladies adorning their cans.
The beer was never anything to brag about. Ahhhh.....but those CANS!!!!!
Have fun!

Nearly a "prestige beer" around here. If you specifically order that, it's like you're bold and prone to tackling new challenges with confidence. Of course, it's just another Eurolager, but who has to know?
Also not easy to come by. Caffrey's is gone fom these shores, and Interbrew is busily foisting product like Stella on us, so Tennent's is probably going to get squeezed out. Gee, what a shame.

Don't tell me you're the type to hang about the streets drinking Tennents super lager?
No, it's not the best beer around, but it served its purpose!
Oh, and i forgot to add that about NOT letting it warm up....big mistake!

My one fond memory of Tennents was when I was 19, and on a return trip to a small town my family used to inhabit (Brora, to be specific). I wanted to indulge my desire for a brewski, but was a bit afraid of the townsfolk seeing the former Presby meenister's son chugging one down. So I bought a single can at the Co-op and hid behind someone's house next to the school playing fields and drank away.
It was warm. It was Tennents. It was crap.
Fond memory? No. Funny, in retrospect? Yes.
Give me 80/- or give me death. No, give me 80/-, or 70/-, or 60/-, or stout, or ale, or scotch, or vodka, or... Well, just don't give me death.
Cheers!
Simon
