The Bottom Line You can get inspiration from the smallest thing in the world but having a big heart will put it all in perspective.
Is it really so hard to come up with inspiration for a song? Inspiration comes in many forms, some visual, some audio, some can even come from touching something out of the ordinary. The drugs that the musicians used during their lifetimes inspired many of the 50s and 60s songs. Many of those musicians are no longer with us so I would advise against using drugs for your inspiration, but you must make that decision yourself. I use day to day experiences when writing the few songs that I have accumulated. Why just the other day I jotted down a new tune tentatively titled, Screw Texaco or "The Bad Man From Texaco", after I got a flat tire and the man there wanted to charge me $85 for replacing it. I also started to write another tentatively titled, Discount Tires, The Place To Go," while I waited for the guys at Discount to install my new $48 tire. I heavily advise against having a radio on while you try to write your chart busting hit otherwise youll end up with a song that combines the tunes that you have been listening too all day long. Having Brittany Spears combined with Judas Priest isnt really a good song to me but if someone else wants to give it a try, heck, be my guest, and send me a copy when you're through. Pretty women are a fantastic image or muse to use when writing love songs or if Rap is more your thing, that ugly incident you had at the bar last week can be turned into a rather good song with just a few rhymes added to it. He poured a beer upon my head I looked at him / said boy your dead He took a swing / that missed me wide And I started doing the Electric Slide Hey, don't look at me like that. I'm candy not a wrapper! A few of the latest songs that I have been working on have been inspired by my experiences on Epinions, both good and bad. Here are a few of my latest titles: "20 Years Chain Smoking, Patch Me Up Grouchy Little Girls Get No Love Cats in Hats "Where Have All The Hits Gone" And my favorite with a few of the lyrics: Glitches, Bugs, and Income Share Epinions has glitches/some call them bugs cant really hide them/sweep them under the rugs does any of it matter/I dont really care At the end of the month/give me my Income Share So you see, inspiration can come from almost anywhere, its really just up to you to be opened minded enough to see them when they are in front of you. Who knows, on my ride home today I may just be inspired to write the next greatest song while sitting in the drive through at Taco Bell. Good luck to you in your endeavors. |
