Wanting to buy our daughter a pair of roller skates, I tried the internet to see where they might be available. Dealtime.com popped up a bunch of places, with the first one (with the best price) being TheSportsAuthority.com. I visited their website through the Dealtime link, which brought me right to the skates we were interested in. Later after checking some more sites, I went back and typed in "girls roller skates" in the search box at TheSportsAuthority.com and found the ones we liked plus more choices. They give you a nice picture of the item plus you can click to get a more detailed (larger) view of it. There is also a link to send an email if you'd like to show the item to someone.
Our daughter liked what she saw and we liked the price so off we went to TheSportsAuthority retail store a few miles away from our home. Much to our disappointment, the retail store did not carry roller skates. Inline skates galore but no roller skates. As long as we were out, we decided to search a few more places. We tried Sears, K-Mart, Toys-R-Us to name a few and came home empty handed. We couldn't believe stores don't sell roller skates. I realize inline skates are the new thing but roller skates can't be that old fashioned. My wife reminisced about skates with keys and neither of us could remember what the key was actually for????
Anyway, after coming home empty handed, I was determined to get those skates. Now it was personal. It would just take longer. We had ordered online from TheSportsAuthority.com before, so I had no qualms about that. We purchased swim goggles and were happy with both price and quality. It's just that sometimes you like things right then and there. The technology to have 3-D things sent to your home is actually available. Only it is made of a paper mache type substance and would cost about $100,000.00 for our skates.....So I guess the $6.99 (skates weighed 5 lbs) it cost to have them shipped from Louisville KY to Connecticut wasn't too bad. Especially since we got them in only 4 days via UPS standard ground. Standard ground shipping costs $3.99 plus anywhere from $.25 - 3.00 per item.
You can also have things shipped Second Day or Overnight (for more $$ naturally).
We got the skates for $24.99. Ordering online is very simple. You have to give them an email address and you create a password. They have secure online shopping (Nothing is 100% secure). They state that they will cover the liability of any false charges after buying something through their site up to $50.00. You tell them where you want it sent, give up your credit card number and expiration date info and have it sent. They send you a confirmation email with an order number. On the homepage there is an "order status" link that easily tracks your order telling you if it's been shipped or not.
They ship to all states but do not currently ship to international addresses.
Some restrictions:
Alaska and Hawaii: Additional charge...No Freight
Military and PO Box addresses: No items over 70 lbs...Nothing that is Flammable...No Freight

If you want to see their weekly sales ad (the same one in sent to your home via mail or newspaper), you can view it online on their site. You click on the page number. You can also use the Store Locator to find a retail store near your home.
Using the site is simple and the pages load quickly. You either type in what you're looking for (keyword) or pick your sport link and browse. Most brand name brands available.
You can get probably ANY sporting equipment you might want. From boxing to kayaking. Soccer to inline skating. Swimming to running. uhhh...you get the picture.
We have purchased soccer shoes, a soccer ball and shin guards from their retail store for reasonable prices but as I said before, not everything can be found at the brick and mortar places.TheSportsAuthority.com has almost every type of sporting good you can imagine. Tons of brand name stuff. We have been satisfied with our purchases and have received them very fast. It was my daughters friends birthday and we ordered another set of skates to give to her. They also arrived in 4 days.
