Or something like that, anyway. Spectacular Update 03.11.05 - WO Re-opened due to no popular demand whatsoever in the vague hope of getting some more entries!! (Oddly, it worked.) Okay after the spectacular failure that was my previous W/O, I bring to you a write off for "short short" stories. And what exactly do I mean by that? Well, specifically a Drabble or a Mini Saga. The first is a story of exactly 100 words. The second is a story of exactly 50 words. They're meant to tell a significant story, but personally I think if they can make you laugh then that's all that's required! Count the words however's most convenient - i.e. hyphonated words can count as one or two words, the title can be included in the word count or not as required... etc... Both types of story are an interesting literary challenge - and a good excuse for me to post the several I wrote ages ago! :-D No bad language or offensive material please. Out of all the ones I've ever written, the drabble below is probably my favourite... Fatal Mistake The alien looked at the ship's controls. This time it would work! There would be no mistake, not like the last time. Last time his ancestors had tried to contact the people of the planet earth, his father had gone down to the surface, and received a most unfriendly welcome. It was later discovered that his name translated into English ("Ivcumtodestroilahuminrase") was somewhat offensive to humans. But now, with his son bearing a different name (despite similar looks), the message of peaceful benevolence would come across. This alien, the ambassador for his (its?) people, was called, translated into English: ... ... ... "Dyeurflingskum".
