Flightyone: Yeah, gotta dig those inventive melodies and suave beats. Not to mention Tracy's dreadlocks.

Simon: "Be Mine" was one of those last-minute newcomers that I had to have. I would've liked to place it higher, but I tell ya, the competition in the arena of my heart is getting way too intense...

plorentz: I'm glad you seem to like the 80's as much as you do, then chances are you might like my #1 song... whoops!

Mom: Yeah, well it is a nice song, the piano intro and all, and it makes me think about you which of course changes everything. But alas, the fact that it is in the bottom ten also makes a statement about how much it still blows next to everything else :) HEH HEH love you !!!

Speed: Yeah, "Sail On" was one of those I took off the list, put back on, took off again at least four times. Sometimes all it takes is to hear it at a moment when you're vulnerable and the decision becomes final.

Oleg: Oh yeah, it definitely gets better, at least to me anyway :) Chicago were very awesome, and they will be back in the Top 20 (maybe, unless I do some more rearranging), but enough! Jeez, two spoilers in one comment, I tell ya...

jo.com Those are also great picks and dad-blammitall, you just made me think of another one I want! It's a different "Lady" and no, it's not Styx..lol

shilmafone: Glad that my nonconformity is at least partially impressive :) I haven't heard "Be Mine" in a few years except for in the background on some diary tape from 1997 I was listening to this summer. Some songs just don't go away no matter how much your memory tries to dump them...

Marsha: "The Chain", oh man, how'm I gonna make room for that? I agree, that is a truly amazing song in many ways. The version they did for The Dance was even better (or at least I think so). "Your Song" mysteriously became fascinating to me at a very boring time in my life to the point I was writing the lyrics to it in chalk all over the driveway.

And as far as "You Oughta Know" goes, you make an interesting point there... I never even considered that one for the list, though by the standards I set it would be perfect, wouldn't it? Heh, well for what it's worth, Alanis is not on this list at all :) I guess I just had certain songs I could not possibly leave off (#2 in particular) and they aren't exactly shiny happy love songs, so I had to make an excuse to put 'em on there. You know how good I am at that! Heh heh...

Thanks everybody~~~

I am wondering if Alanis Morrissette's "You Oughta Know" is going to make it? Talk about the most p*ssed off "love" song ever!

Loved that you mentioned "Go Your Own Way". It's one of my Mac favorites. My all-time from them, as a group, is "The Chain," just in case you were wondering. :)

Also love "Your Song". Absolutely gorgeous.

I am looking forward to your next installment, and what a great idea you had, Mr. Love Man!

Speaking of which, I hope you have a happy, healthy Thanksgiving day, and just kick back and relax.

Love ya,
Marsha

"Be Mine" is a forgotten classic. Well, not by you, it seems. Seeing that one mentioned makes me want to write a review of that album, except I think I've used up my sap 'n cheese quota for the month.

Also, I must admit that I never expected a song that ends on the gurgled repetition of I hope that you choke to make a list of love songs.

I think that's why I like your list. Looking forward to the rest.

To the world of Love Songs by Flamepillar! Wait, let me look around.. Ooh, nice here.

No, seriously, although I haven't heard almost half of this, the ones I know are decent picks. No 100% hits, but that I reckon you're saving for last. Best for last, eh? ;)

Great job. I especially liked.. Chicago being included. Sure, a little cheesy, but enough bullsh*t - dump the critics - I love that song too! Thanks for that and other ones here!

Well, and I guess I'll see you a couple of steps higher, man :)

I gotta say, though, "Sail On" always struck me as an almost obscenely bitter song. The music change at the end almost sounds like a joke. But it's a great song, nevertheless, probably the best Lionel ever wrote.

I'll shut up now,

Nice list so far, can't wait to see what you have in store for us. What I will say is that Be mine would have been in my top ten, so let's see how you make that one up to me ;)

Keep em coming
