"In the Absence of the Sun" (Reply to this comment)

Killer Duncan Sheik track...
My take on that song was that it was written from the point of view of an openly gay man in a relationship with a totally closeted guy... "I don't want to say I'm just a friend" (I know that feeling) and then it ends with "We just lie about it, and we become shadows of ourselves..." (or something like that) and it just gives me shivers.

Marshiemallow: Didn't notice before that the initials of "Building a Mystery" were BAM! Veddy interesting! I figured a lot of these would go over people's heads :)
openroad: You got that right about love. Sorry I couldn't have put some kind of country tunes on here, there are definitely some that I considered, "You Move Me" by Garth Brooks being one, "Standing Outside The Fire" also, except that it's not really a love song (as if half of the ones I did put up were!) and "These Days" by Rascal Flatts would've been there too if only.. if only... anyways. That's cool that you dig Collective Soul; I had a kind of hard time getting into Blender myself, although eventually I did start to "get" it, I never got the inspiration to review it... maybe someday I will though. "Heavy" is definitely a surprise, I was even more surprised by "Slow", that song ROCKS!

Yeehay, #45 & #46 (Reply to this comment)

Wow Tim, two of my favorite songs that I forgot I loved!
45 "The World I Know"
This song really got stuck in my head, back when I loved Collective Soul. Their last release (Blender) didn't do it for me at all, but Dosage and Disciplined Breakdown were great albums. I couldn't believe a band like C.S. could to a song like Heavy, and do it well! Anyway, it's great to see Soul on your list!
44 "Building A Mystery"
Man does this bring back memories... I spent a long time trying to figure out what this song was called after I heard it. Once I knew I couldn't listen to it enough, much to the disgrace of my male friends. Sarah has such a hopeful and beautiful angst to her voice, it sends shivers down my spine. I have to say, at times this song made me cry. Building a Mystery, holding on and holding it in... she sings. That's what love is like sometimes, hanging on while you also hold in both your love and pain.
Whew, anyway thanks for putting one of Sarah's best in this list of yours,
Openroad

you lost me, sweetie. The only song on here I know well is "Building A Mystery". Most I haven't heard. But BAM is awesome, and one of my all-time Sarah faves. Can't wait for more, bring it on! :)
(((Love ya)))

shades: I got no clue what else they did either; I totally forgot about "Magnet and Steel" too. I don't know if it would've made the list but I always kinda liked that song.
Mom: I'll be ready, fo sho tho! :) I figured a lot of people would like that particular song; I almost wish I had saved it for later, but you know how these things go. Love you too~~
Matt: Just a complicated love song, that's all... and that C word is not a clue for anyone spectating :)
clark: There was no way I would be leaving that one off. Thanks!
Becky: Ah well, it ain't you, sorry :) It's someone I know in real life who works in the same store. Bald Headed Woman? Funny, but scary at the same time! Heh..
