"Every Breath You Take" is at the EXACT same position on my list as it is on yours and I SWEAR I didn't look at your list for reference beforehand.

song it would be Imagine. I have a small poster I bought in NYC and love it. It is the ultimate love song. I really like how you put that. Looking forward to the final 20! jo

shady: Thankya dear :)
yak: I've been a lot worse than 100.3! My record is 104.6. I was about 15 years old then though, so maybe teens get higher temps, I dunno, 'cause I can't imagine how I ever got that high, except for toking maybe.
tjolims: Heh, well he'll get some next go around I reckon!
Mom: No need to worry, but I suppose it's only natural that you do. I'm much better now, as you probably know already! Basketball Jones, that's just scary...
Jenn: I'm glad too, gladder than glad :)
Oleg: If you need the sleep, by all means get whatever you can, no need to toss away your time on my ^ss! I know how tough that time management stuff can be, especially with all the work and everything! Good luck!
Mike: Whatever you sent must have gotten here faster than the postal delivery service could have, 'cause it only took a little over a day to beat it into submission! Granted, there's still a little icky "residue" lingering around, but that's oozing away even as we speak. Yeesh, sorry for the intense visual imagery there... and thanks :)
DVD (heheh): I had no idea that song was gonna be used in Liar Liar, that's unreal! I've seen that movie a gazillion times, I just can't imagine it. It would've been perfect though.
Marsha: I'm glad you dig 'em :) My love for Lennon comes from my Dad's side, I'm certain of that! Just so you don't worry about Mom trying to serenade you with "Watching The Wheels" or something one day... otherwise, terrific! "Here Comes My Girl" was actually a last-minute throw-in when I realized out of the blue (like a complete MORON) that I only had X number of songs for X plus one slots. Honest to God I don't know how it happened!
Blob_tomato: As you no doubt have seen by now, it's not my favorite of his either, but pretty darn close. I'll have to check out that B-side. I dont' get into the singles enough these days. Lord knows I should, they make for cheaper reviews!

you know, Every Breath You Take is NOT my favorite song by Sting... Oleg might want to chime in on this one, but I am head over heels for one of his B-sides, the absolutely gorgeous, masterfully romantic The Pirate's Bride. I can't begin to do justice to the song by describing the piano and soft jazz mood, but here are some lyrics...
Sometimes in the light at the edge of the world
Is the ghost of a ship with it's black sail furled
And night after night she would stand on the shore
And dream of the love that she knew before
The tide rolls out, the tide rolls in
Without a thought for the ways of men
And here's a surprise admission from the Sting freak - my favorite love song is NOT a Sting song at all... it's Murlough Bay by Iona from Beyond These Shores.
Can't wait to see the rest of the list...
PS - major props for including Howard Jones! my wife and I consider several of his songs to be "special" songs...

I hope you feel better, sweetie. What the heck are you doing writing this with a fever and an icky tummy? :) Seriously, hope you feel way better way soon.
As for the songs? Awesome. My faves on this section?
Here Comes My Girl
Every Breath You Take
These Dreams
Imagine
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Just writing the last song down gave me goosebumps. One of my all-time favorite Elton songs, made even better by George Michael.
And strange that you picked "These Dreams". I never really thought of it as a love song, isn't that odd?
And how cool is "Here Comes My Girl"? That one gives me big goosebumps, too. Every time.
And what can you say about "Every Breath You Take"? Maybe one of the best songs about "obsession" (to me, anyway) ever written. Or, maybe just one of the best songs ever written, period. Notice, I said one of. I just know it's high on my list.
And for all the zillions of people who love "Imagine," it doesn't do much for me, and never has, I don't know why. Never really liked Lennon, maybe that's it.
Anyhow, this was quite amazing, and I can't wait for the next one.
Please take good care of yourself.

Dude, I'm thrilled to see Jars of Clay on this list. Though I have to point out that "Five Candles" is neither about a girl nor about God. It was actually written for the movie Liar, Liar, and it's about a young boy whose father is struggling to learn how to be there for him, or something like that. It got cut from the movie at the last minute in favor of an outtakes reel.
Now go listen to "Fly Farther". That song will reduce you to a sniveling baby.

First of all, another fantastic installment. This is a really fun list!!!
Second: Tim. If you throw up twice at work, man, it's time to go home. Don't let yourself throw up three times. Seriously, take care of yourself and get better....I just got over it myself, and I know what you're going through, and it's no fun. I'm willing the evil flu demons away from you as we speak.
Ciao,
Mike

..but all I did this weekend was sleep. I woke up today and realized it was Monday, my last day off till 15th or so.. and it felt awful. I'd sure as heck love to spend more time in my cozy room (even if I've no Internet connection!), just doing nothing.
Anyway, sorry - I've missed the third installment. I read it and will comment for both now, k?
Certain individuals, eh? ;) Well, but that's a beautiful song (and I'm still finding it hard to forgive myself for letting it peak only as high as 42 in my Top of the Pops). You did it more justice, for sure! I mean Every Breath you Take of course.
Hurray to Heartbreaker, Remember the Time, Kiss from the Rose (say "Forever" was the best Batman movie?), Don't let the sun go down on me, Everything I do (I do it for you), Circle of Life (although of all Disney movies I like Meg's song from "Hercules" the most - don't remember it's name though)..
Against all odds you have included more Phil Collins in the top - and I can only say that I (yeah, you better believe it) Like this song, what's more, I seem to love Mariah's take on this one (on Rainbow, her last somewhat decent album).
N' Sync? well.. I prefer Gone ;))
Just one more step, what? Hey man, I'll see you on the top.

I hate, hate, hate being so far away from you. I'm still your Mom and I don't care that you're a grown man now.....I feel like I need to be with you when you're sick. Please email me and let me know how you are, ok?
Now....on to the list. I see Seals' name twice, then Smokey Robinson....2 of my favorites. This is getting better and better!!
Bobby wants to know if you're gonna include "our song" in the top 10. Say what???? You don't know what "our song" is? It's Basketball Jones, of course.....hehehehehehe
Take care, Sweetie, and let me know how you are. Love you bunches!!
