Feeling Just a Bit Like Tom Cruise in "Minority Report"

If you've got thick glasses, but not bifocals, LASIK may be for you. It's definitely for me.

Good detailed account of your experience (Reply to this comment)

Wow, 20/15 vision. Glad it turned out so well for you, and appreciate your detail account of the experience you went through. Btw, if you are still reading the feedback comments to your Epinion, have you had any adverse side effects since your LASIK surgery?

I had it done (Reply to this comment)

almost two years ago now. It's hard to even remember what it was like to wear glasses for all those years.

I don't know if it's a side effect of the surgery, or just old(er) age, but I do find that my eyes get more tired than they used to. I find sometimes in the middle of the day I have to lay down with my eyes closed (not sleeping) for about 15 minutes to a half hour.

Best wishes,
Patti

Nice review but there is still no way I could do that. I guess I am just not brave enough. :)
Congratulations on you having the courage to take the leap.

would have a death grip on that stuffed animal! Yikes...it sounds terrifying. But, it sounds like you've had excellent results. I'm blind as a bat too, and I can't wear contacts. Silly me hates my glasses, so, I often don't wear those either. Maybe I should look into this.

Great job!

I thought it was interesting too! But like Javelina said, some of the things done during surgery made me cringe. I'd have a death grip on that stuffed animal! lol

I have to keep up with the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops for a week. After that, just the artificial tears when my eyes get dry.

The speculum was the worst thing about the actual surgery for me, but you do get used to it. There isn't really any way they can do this if you're put out, though.

John, how long do you have to do the antibiotic drops? And are you done with drops (except for the tears whenever your eyes get dry) afterwards? That's probably the more annoying part of PRK, the steroid drop regimen. It's certainly worth it, but I can't wait until I'm done with them. Not to mention the Lacrilube gel I have to put in nightly for a month.

It was interesting reading about your experience. Although you didn't mention it, the thought of them putting the "claw" in your eye to hold your eyelids open (or is that a different type of eye procedure) just makes me cringe. I cannot imagine doing it any way but being put out, even just for those few moments. I am so sick of wearing glasses!

I had lasik - gee - three/four years ago - and it was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I'm still thrilled with the results and I honestly don't know how I ever went through life blind as a bat.
