Pros:Lightweight and effective with a new battery.
Cons:Useless once the battery is used up. Flimsy, noisy. Small collection tray.
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend the Swivel Sweeper to anyone. The unit will not work past the 30 day guarantee and for the same money you can buy a better product.
OK, so I had seen the infomercial a dozen times or so. It looked like such a great product, and with two kids and two dogs, it really seemed like a perfect fit.
This item is a motorized version of a carpet sweeper. The major difference is that it has a brush along all 4 surfaces of the rectangular head, so it is "brushing up" debris from all sides all at once.
The infomercial highlights the lightweight, highly effective and maneuverable unit whisking away dirt, debris and hair from a variety of surfaces.
So, when I came across the infomercial again one evening, and saw that they were offering 2 Swivel Sweepers for the price of one, well, how could I refuse?!
So I called to order my two swivel sweepers. Do I want to buy extra batteries for $14 each? - no thanks. Do I want to get an extra set of glider disks for $10? - no thanks. Do I want to buy the extra air filters for $16? - NO THANKS! Just send me my two friggin' Swivel Sweepers that I am, at this point, so sure that I need.
Of course I had to pay like $20 in shipping for my second "free" sweeper (yes, I can hear my Mom..."no such thing as free, yadda, yadda, yadda...")
I waited with great anticipation to get my wonderful, amazing, incredible Swivel Sweepers. Not less than 3 weeks later (oh, and this was my free express shipping) The box arrived.
They were very easy to assemble - only a few minutes and I was dying to try them! Of course I had to charge the batteries overnight first.
The next day I snapped in the freshly charged battery and away I swivelled. Wow, it really worked! Had I finally bought an infomercial product that worked the same way it did in the commercial? I swiveled hair on tile, I swiveled hair on carpet. Crumbs under the table, the basement stairs... I really felt like I had redeemed myself since the "Ab Glider" purchase of 2004...
The unit is lightweight, but also a little flimsy. The collection tray is small and you have to put your hands under the dirty end of the sweeper to remove/replace it. The unit is also quite noisy, contrary to the claims made in the infomercial. But at this point, I was pretty satisfied with the product.
After a busy day of swiveling, the battery was understandably low, so I recharged it according to the manufacturer's guidelines.
The next time I went to use it, I had noticeably less swivel time, before it died. This got shorter and shorter, until finally, the battery would not hold any charge.
So, I used the battery from my second "free" sweeper. once it was used the first time, it too would not hold a sufficient charge to accomplish anything.
We tried all the tricks to "recharge" the battery, but to no avail.
Since my 30 day guarantee had expired, I was left with $69 worth of garage sale fodder.
For less than $69, I could have bought a really nice electric broom vacuum that would have worked much better.
