Smartstartk9's disappointment of May 19 '07 (Reply to this comment)

I had simular problem that smartstartk9 had last year. Proir to that they were just the usual cheepy that only last around a year. All she/he needed to do was call the company, Ontel, 1-800-405-8306 concerning your complaint. At first they sent me a replacement for the battery. That one too failed to conect properly. So I called them again and they expalaied that if the battery replacement didn't solve the problem then it was the motor in the handle. They would send me a replacement if I agreed to the $12.95 shipping cost. Which I did agree to since I have had the older style sweeper in the past and really like it better than other products such a the Shark products I previously owned befre the Swivel Sweeper came out. I will admit it took a couple of months to get it but that was because the customer service rep had misinformed me as to the proper channels. When I called to follow up on where my replacement sweeper was I was told I needed to return the defected item with the $12.95 check I already sent. I told the CSR that was not explained to me earlier. She said that the check would be returned to me without the return of the defective item. But she was wrong as I did finally received my new and imporved sweeper. The only complaint I have with the swivel sweeper is they are made cheaply, China no doubt, and if handled roughly as I do something is bound to break on it. I have done this several times and got tired of it. This Christmas I got he lastest, greatest Shark sweeper and I hate it. 20 hours each time you need recharging. Will only pick up going foward not on the backswing, so you are chasing dust bunnies all over the place. Also it's too bulky to get into small area's and under furniture like the Swivel Sweeper can do. And even though it looks sturdier it is tha same cheaply made plastic crap. I've broken two different area since Christmas and is now unusable. So I am now going back to the Swivel Sweeper. It may only last less than a year but it's worth it to me since it out performs all others that are not of the expensive vacuum types. And I hate dragging out my vacuum every other day. To each his own but I do indeed reccomend the Swivel Sweeper. I should know. I've had plenty of them ( ha ha ).

I totally agree with everything you said in your review. I himmed and hawed for a couple of months before I broke down and bought on off of e-bay. My mom always did say to me, "if it sounds too good to be true, then it most likely is." Another time I should have listen to dear ole mom.
