On paper, this phone looks like a winner, but it's not....

Pros:Wirless internet (3G), text messaging, and a camera.
Cons:Bulky, after a year of use, looks like a truck ran over it.
The Bottom Line: Go with something else, LG and Verizon need to figure out how to make phones more durable.

I'm a project engineer on a large construction site. This phone was going to be the answer to all my communication problems. And it was....with features like Wirless internet (3G), text messaging, and a camera. The problems lie within the cosmetic durability and construction of the phone.

The LG VX9800 is slightly bulky, but given its features, its something I can live with. After owning this phone for close to a year now, it is of my opinion that Verizon or LG needs to focus more on making these things last longer.

First off, let me clarify a few things,

#1. I've never dropped this phone on the ground
#2. The phone stays in my right pants pocket when not in use, and my car keys go in the left pants pocket.
#3. Considering the condition of my last LG phone was in after a year of use, I payed particularly close attention to the handling and care of this phone

So, what kind of condition is the phone in?

The keys on the dial number pad have almost worn completely off. The shell case of the phone has dozens of small chips and color rubbed off. The mouth and ear piece plastic material looks like it received a coating of some type of toxic substance (Even though it hasn't).

Completely unacceptable in my book. The phone is still 100% functional, so some might see my review as a bit misguided but words cannot describe how terrible this phone looks like after only 1 year of use.

Style and durability are quite important to me as image plays a role in my business. If I pay close to $400 for an electronic device, I expect it to be a durable good.
