I still buy CDs. And I want these...soon...

The Bottom Line CDs are still good. Just way overpriced, and the quality isn't as good. But I still like them. See what I want. NOW! Go look!

I just bought a CD today. The Led Zeppelin BBC Sessions. It set me back $27. And I'm happy about it. It's worth it just to hear Immigrant Song, Black Dog, and Stairway to Heaven. Now I can listen to the other 20 or so tracks and not be angry about that bastard who took a free copy right out from under my nose back in June. I'll still never forgive him. He was a techie, anyway. And the CD didn't have the inside cover. But still, free is a better price than $27. Still, there are bigger ripoffs than that. At the same place I was looking (I won't mention it's name, since it's such a ripoff), they were selling one of my most highly wanted albums...

Alive or Just Breathing - Killswitch Engage

For...get this...$19!!! Imagine paying $19 for 12 tracks. I don't care how good the tracks are, it's not worth paying that much for a CD. Needless to say, I didn't buy it. I'll probably just slowly end up downloading the entire CD. I got another track yesterday, and it's my favorite song to date. Not too much screeching and screaming. Awesome song. I can't wait for the price to drop, or for me to find it somewhere else.

Anyway, my rant today is about CDs that I want. Badly. Some are already out, some have yet to be released. And I still want them, dangit. So here we go!

Waaaay at the top of my list, completely uncontested...guess which one. No, go on, guess. I'll give you three guesses...give up? It's...

Alive or Just Breathing - Killswitch Engage

Surprised? Didn't think so. The more songs I hear by them, the more impressed I am by them. I can't wait to find their CD for less than, oh, say $14, because then that CD is coming home with me. Just everything about these guys screams (pun) greatness. Even though they got a new singer since the first one left because of vocal and personal problems, they are still really powerful. I can't wait till they go on tour again and come somewhere near my hometown. I don't care who's playing with them, unless, of course, they're playing with No Doubt, Blink 182, and Good Charlotte. In which case I'll give up on them for making such a stupid decision.

Next on my list...

Slipknot's third album

I can hear your reaction now; it'll go something like this: "Oh, my (insert deity or lack thereof here), this man of respectable opinions likes Slipknot? That immediately qualifies him as not having a respectable opinion. I boycott all of his opinions, even though I've never listened to Slipknot ever or given him a chance to win me over!"

I hate these people. I know one. He hates Slipknot because of their screaming, but he likes (get this), the Murderdolls...In Flames...and he does like Slipknot's song Liberate. What a hypocrite. And a fool. Slipknot has, I consider, one of the best drummers out there in Joey Jordison. He rocks the double bass like no other. And they've got some top-notch guitarists there too. Some people dismiss them as crap because their guitars are tuned way low, making it impossible to tell what notes they're playing. That is not true! You just have to listen very carefully, then you'll enjoy the chaos that is Slipknot. I can't wait for their third CD. Hopefully they'll do a farewell tour, then another, and another, kind of like KISS or Cher. Four or five "farewell tours" later, they can write another few CDs, and Joey won't go back to the Murderdolls.

Hmmm...that's really all the upcoming CDs that I know of that I want. I know of at least one CD that's coming out that I'm afraid of...Our Lady Peace's new album. With Bob Rock producing (correct me if I'm wrong, I can't remember exactly what that guy's name is), they'll be sure to follow in the footsteps of Metallica. Except OLP still has potential to be huge. They have such great music. And with that idiot producing their new album, they're bound to go from great to crap in one fell swoop. I feel sorry for anyone being produced by him. I hate him so much.

Since I know of pretty much no other album that I want (I either have them or have downloaded them), I can easily list some bands/artists that I'm looking forward to their next albums...in no particular order...

Bowling for Soup
Mudvayne
System of a Down
Ozzy Osbourne (get well soon!)
Incubus
Linkin Park (can't ride Meteora forever, guys!)
Audioslave
Buckethead

There are more, but I'm feeling brain dead right about now. So there you have it folks. My second (and probably less-informational) rant here at the General Music Comments page. You'll be seeing me a lot around here, if that's okay with you all. I have a lot to say, and it's not all good and positive like this rant. I have a lot of anger directed at the music industry...but that's for another day. Feel free to drop me a line or a comment or whatever else you want. I'm open to listening to whatever you've got to say.

This is stony45 signing off for now. I'll see you all in a few days, maybe more. I dunno. Oh, man, what a bad way to end my rant. Whatever. See you next time!
