Hey everybody!! I know I'm new here, but I have done a lot of looking around, and I have noticed that there are a few *boring* profile pages around here. I'm gonna try to help out a little bit with some tips on how to make it..umm..less boring..hehe=) Note: I will be putting a few html codes in here. To use these, go to "Edit Public Profile" and stick them somewhere in your "Long Biography" section. Thank you mobiprof for explaining how to do the codes right without turning them into crazy stuff. =) Background!!! First of all, everyone needs a background. I made mine on Microsoft Paint (I know it looks fruity but I like rainbows!!), but it's easy to find already-made ones to use. Go to google.com and type in "backgrounds" to find some. When you see one that you like, right click on it and click "properties". Copy the address. The code for a background is: <body background=http://www.??????.com> The address that you copied on the "properties" screen goes into the background code. Congratulations, you should have a background now!! Unless I didn't explain it right=) Here are some examples: -Purple/Blue Marble Background: <body background=http://wp.netscape.com/assist/net_sites/bg/marble/purpleblue_marble.gif> -Multicolored Marble Background: <body background=http://216.127.92.67/textures/multi/multi005.jpg> -The Rainbow Background from my Profile Page: <body background=http://img4.photobucket.com/albums/0803/SarahLovesAdam/bg.gif> Here are some places to get other backgrounds: http://www.free-backgrounds.com/ http://wp.netscape.com/assist/net_sites/bg/backgrounds.html http://www.grsites.com/textures/ http://www.artistic-designers.com/bkgds/ Pictures!!! Whether you have pictures of yourself or not will definitely not effect whether or not I read your reviews (neither will having/not having a background), but it is nice to be able to look you in the eyes while reading what you write..haha=) If you want pictures on your profile page, you first need to get pictures onto your computer. If you don't have a scanner or a digital camera, I don't know how you would get a picture of yourself onto your computer, but you can use other pictures. When you find the picture(s) that you want to go on your profile page, if it is not already online (if there is not a "link" to it), you need to make an online photo album. I have photo albums at www.photobucket.com and www.snapfish.com. They are both free and easy to use. Follow the instructions on the website on how to upload your pictures, and then come back here to find out how to put them on your profile page.=) The html code for adding a picture is: <img src=http://www.linktopicture.com/picture.gif> While you are at your photo album or anywhere else online and you see a picture that you want to use, right click on it, click on properties, copy the address, and paste it into the picture code. Don't forget the ".gif" or ".jpg" or whatever it has at the end of the link. An Interesting Idea -Go to http://quizilla.com/popular.html and take one of the quizzes. When you finish, there will usually be a box that has an html code inside of it. All you have to do is copy/paste all of it into your "long biography" section. I took the "Which Dysfunctional Care Bear Are You" quiz and got "Raver Bear"...haha=) Links I don't have any links on my profile page, just because I don't have any links I feel the need to put. I figured since Epinions only gives you 3 or 4 “link areas” or whatever they’re called, somebody might want to know how to put extra links on their page. Here’s how you do it: <a href="http://www.linktothepage.com">Whatyouwanttoshowup</a> The part after the equal sign is the actual website that the link comes from. The part after the > thing is what you want the link to say. I hope this has helped at least one person. If I messed up on something, I'm very sorry. Just tell me and I will do my best to fix it.
