One year ago I purchased a VW Rabbit for my wife and over that year we have been very satisfied with the buy. For the price it is hard to find a vehicle that really compares to overall quality and design. The VW comes with a lot of options that normally dont exist for a car in this class.
The interior is functionally a very symmetrically to the eyes. There is plenty of leg space in the back seat and for a 245 pound person the front seats are not half bad. The C.D. changer is very handy due to it being in the front of car and not in the rear. Heated seats came standard with the car which is useful in the winter. The quality of the vehicle can be summed up as very sturdy.
The exterior of the vehicle is consistent with previous VWs. There is nothing to special about the exterior design, but if you like the looks of previous VWs then you will like the Rabbit. VW tends to not go to extreme on design, but prefer to focus of function.
There are a few downsides to the VW Rabbit. The gas mileage is really not that great for a vehicle of this size. Right now we have the average at about 22 miles per gallon, with a mixture of city and highway driving. The engine seems to be a little underpowered but it is workable. Sometimes it seems like the transmission shifts a little bit hard, but then again my normal everyday car is a Jaguar, so its hard for me to make a comparison.
Overall the quality of the car and the functionality of the Rabbit makes it a best buy for the class of car. For the price there are no vehicles really in the same arena. This vehicle would be perfect for a young professional, or a college student. Be prepared to own this car for a long time.
