Pros: A great show that my entire family can watch and enjoy.
Cons: Just a tad too corny and unrealistic at times. But then again, this IS television!
The Bottom Line: Great show, great cast. Don't miss this one!

Okay, I'll admit it. I love 7th heaven! Yes, I know that I love Howard Stern, Jackass, and South Park as well. Perhaps this show is that well written. Perhaps I just enjoy that my entire family can sit down Monday nights and watch this program together (before my husband and I watch our favorite soap opera.....WWF wrestling!). Perhaps I actually feel good about watching this show. Who knows why I love this show so much. Who cares why!
7th Heaven, produced by Aaron Spelling, is a rare treat. Mr. Spelling, who is famous for such dramas as Dynasty, Beverly Hills 90210, and Melrose Place, has produced a television series totally out of his norm. You will not find cat fights, adultery, and glam as you would on Mr. Spelling's other shows. Yes, this show is most definently different than anything on television today.
How different can it be you ask? Well firstly, the show is about a minister and his family. That's right, a minister. Are their religious tones surrounding this show? At times, yes there are. But please don't let that scare you away from this show! 7th Heaven is so much more than just a minister and his family. It's about families dealing with real problems that we face each and every day.
The Camden family is a unique bunch. A rare combination of sugar sweet and naughty that just works so well. First we have our dear Reverand Eric Camden. He tries so hard to help others, that at times he doesn't see the problems his own family has. His wife Annie, is truly a Godsend. Yes, she is a stay at home mom. Yes, she is sweet. A truly good woman. But she is a woman who will NOT take crap from her kids, or anyone for that matter. I love it!
And how about those kids? Seven in total. All unique with their own special qualities. You have Matt, the oldest. He is a good guy, just turning 21 and STILL a virgin! Need I say more?! Mary is next. Just 20, she is the bad girl of the family. From drinking, to smoking pot, she's done it! Once the family jock, she totally screwed up her life and was sent to live with grandparents 3000 miles away! Her parents just couldn't handle her! Yes folks, the poor reverand and his wife are human!
Next in the Camden brood is Lucy. A senior in high school ready to take on the world! Simon is next. A good boy, with an attitude here and there. Typical 16 year old. Then there is Ruthie. Ruthie went from being a very cute 5 year old at the show's beginning, to being a very smart, smartmouthed 10 year old. Eric and Annie are going to have their hands full once she is older! Finally, their are the twins, Sam and David. Just two years old, their two young to be in any trouble!
With an extended cast that includes the retired army Colonel grandfather, the alcoholic Aunt, and the homeless, sexually charged boyfriend to Mary, their is plenty on the Camden family's plate!
I love this show for many different reasons. mainly, because I feel good about watching it. My family can sit down together and watch it as a family, without having to cover my three year old's eyes and ears every five minutes due to some objectionable material. Plus, it's intreging enough to keep our attention.
I did have a minor problem with the show at the beginning, and as the characters on the show progressed, this problem diminished. The Camdens were too good! They were too nice! Now their just human, wich is fine by me!
I highly recommend this show to anyone who is looking for something to watch with their kids, or looking for a change of pace from the ordinary. Oh thank heaven, for 7th heavan!
