South Of France Restaurant

I'm still looking for that "most romantic" restaurant in Atlanta. I recently ate at Nicolai's Roof and it comes close for atmosphere and falls short for the meal itself.

I did not comment in detail on the food, per se, as the heading for this topic was to name what you thought was the "most romantic" restaurant in Atlanta. The question was not "What is the most romantic restaurant and, by the way, how was the food?

But, nonethless, I have no problem commenting on the food itself. I will comment on what I ate as I did not taste my husband's food. He had filet of trout that he said was absolutely succulent.

I had boneless La Supreme Poulet (chicken supreme) stuffed with spinach and gorgonzola cheese. It was served with a mound of mashed potatoes and fresh mixed vegetables. I also ordered a side of asparagus with béarnaise sauce. The asparagus was only slightly disappointing as it was a tad bland. The chicken was cooked to perfection, falling apart, but yet with a slightly crunchy exterior. It was doused in a fragrant marsala sauce making the entire dish sing with flavor.

A basket of bread with butter was served. The bread was not the highlight of the meal, but acceptable.

The wine selection was quite nice and averaged about $8.00 per glass, a bottle was $32. The entire meal for two with a glass of wine each, my husband having a side salad (mushrooms and greens with a pepper vinaigrette--alright, I admit I did taste his salad and it was to die for) and an espresso was $69 without tip.

I have a slight caveat, the service was not bad but merely non-descript and not terribly attentive. Still, I would return to eat at this restaurant again, as the quality of food for the price more than compensates for any other shortcomings.

Is this more what you were wanting? ;-)

Restaurant reviews should be mostly about the food. The atmosphere and service are important too, but your focus should be upon what was served. Let me know if you will update this. Tom Barnes
